Just a simple question: why are there heavy and light pistols in
Shadowrun, but no medium? I would say they go for a damage of about
6M. In a lot of cases light pistols are easy to conceal but don't
pack enough firepower and heavies are hard to conceal (and sometimes
just kill the PC's to quickly :).
I have almost no knowledge of firearms (trying to fix that), so maybe
its a stupid question (or a frequently asked one :), but I just
wondered.

Greetings,

Martin

Neither does FASA. That's why.

Real Programmers never work 9 to 5. If any real programmers
are around at 9 am, it's because they were up all night.

Yes, that's true they don't , but the real reason was because only last
year did a medium frame handgun (manufactured by Beretta) first appear on
the market an d to the public.
When I was at the International Association of Police Chiefs convention
here in Albuquerque, I got to handle one of these guns and they combine
the aspects of both large and small frame guns.
I think the stats for such a gun would be
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
type conc mode ammo damage weight cost avail street index
medium 6 SA 12 6M 1.85 700 14/14 days 1.5

This is for a generic gun. The damage is since .40 cal has almost
the exact same ballistics as a .45 or what FASA considers large handguns,
which they are.

AET guns are British and Tir Nan 'Og brand guns and can only be
bought there since exportation is non-existant. they have an increased
cost of about 30% or so, -1 concealability, 25 rnd clips and availability
and street index are 1.5

I'd say: because there's Light and Heavy doesn't mean there has to be Medium
too... OTOH, if there's Medium and Heavy, I'd expect there to be Light as
well. What you propose for a medium pistol (6M) is what I think a heavy
pistol should be.
