Greetinx Chummer!

IMO the rules in SR2 don´t say what happens if only 1 oppenent wants to
attack in melee. What if the other opponent doesn´t want to and prefers
firing a gun or casting a spell? Does it only depend on the initiatve if i
follow the melee rules or not?

Just wondering...

stand aimlessly in front of a guy with a sword and you are liable to
become a head shorter!

When they guy wanting to use melee goes his target gets no choice
he's in melee, if he doesn't want to defend well i'm sure the
attacker won't mind :)
Firing a gun while being attacked in melee is +2TN per attacker max
gun size = pistol, spellcasting doesn't require you manouver a
physical object so no penalty.

Real simple: then you're a target that gets attacked, instead of being
able to counter-attack -- just as with ranged combat.

I don't think there are rules for casting a spell while you're being
attacked, but you get a +2 modifier per opponent if you fire a gun when
you're in melee combat. I'd say that if you want to cast a spell, you're
going to have to wait until your next action...

I'd assume the +2 TN for damaging manipulations also, since you are aiming the
elemental effects like a gun, and it _is_ something physical...
