He'd only need to be grade 4 -- a spell lock is a rating 1 focus,
remember? Granted, if he sustains the Barrier spell that can still be
grounded through unless he gains another six grades.

Uhhh...You can't ground through a sustained spell, Quickened Spell, or
Anchored Spell. A Spell Lock yes.

I believe that after a lengthy discussion on this list and the
rec.games.frp.cyber newgroups it was decided that Quickened and
Anchored spells could be grounded through because the mage has
created a permanent flow of astral energy to support the spell.
Susteained spells however cannot be grounded through because the mage
himself is channel the energy, not creating a gateway of sorts.

Except that FASAMike (that would be Mike Muhivill, the guy in charge of SR
at FASA) said you can't ground through quickenings.

And nothing was ever unanimously decided except that we agree to disagree
(mostly :) ). Even Mike ducked under his desk after he made his
proclamation :D

I forgot about that... FASA Mike said so, but up until I read that I used
to use whatever I liked at the moment :)

Nope. There was quite a discussion about this for months - I always said
grounding through Quickenings is nonsense and about 50% of the other
people agreed with me. The "Grounding through Quickenings" discussion
was nearly as funny as the "Bioware does/doesn`t cost Essence"
discussion... ;-)

Naaaaah... that is cleAr by the book, and people ran in open doors
for weeks with their house rules, that nearly matched, if there
weren't the commas set differently... :-)

I think it was as much "fun" as the ongoing Sammy/Fighter vs Magician
vs (by some) PhysAd "discussion" :-(
