Is there a reason none of the messages from this mailing list has anything in
the subject to identify it as coming from this mailing list, or did I have
to set something in my profile? My spam filter is kicking out a lot of
messages
from here (even though I white-listed shadowrn@*****.dumpshock.com) and I
hate having to manually approve what's left. :-(

The List-Id header (which is set to "Shadowrun Discussion
<shadowrn.lists.dumpshock.com>" for every message that goes through
this list) probably is what you are looking for.

According to Ubiquitous, on Friday 19 November 2004 01:41 the word on the
street was...

This list uses the smart option, instead of those annoying []-tags in the
subject: there is a separate line in the message header to identify the
message as coming from this list. If you look at the full message header,
you'll see lines reading "List-Id: Shadowrun Discussion
<shadowrn.lists.dumpshock.com>", "X-BeenThere:
shadowrn@*****.dumpshock.com", etc. Since you use Eudora Pro, I expect
your mailer has the ability to filter messages, so you could filter on one
of those lines.

Another handy tip is to filter on just "shadowrn@" instead of the whole
list address. This way, you won't have to change your filter should the
address ever change :)

No dice. There's still letters getting picked up by my server-side spam
filter.

If your spam filter is still blocking ShadowRN posts even after you
whitelisted it, it sounds like it's time to get a new spam filter...

That is not an option.

Well, if it's not even capable of following as simple a rule as "if
List-id == 'shadowrn@*****.dumpshock.com': not spam", I'm left
wondering about its actual spam filtering capabilities...

Yeah, the worst thing is, I have no idea what it uses as spam criterian.
I'm now just whitelisting the individual members.

Would you like a GMail email account (web based email)? I've got six
invites and would be more than happy to send one to you.

Get 'em or give 'em, just don't use mailing lists for it:
http://isnoop.net/gmailomatic.php

Last time I checked there were 23 available. I've donated 3 or 4 myself.
All the rest of my invites will go here unless someone reserves one from
me IRL.
