Date: Thu, 1 Apr 1999 16:09:57 -0600
Granite believes that my illustrating the artworks was a waste of time.
(Granite, this is not meant to be an attack on you, I just want to know
what the list thinks. If I misunderstood your statement, please correct
me.)

What I want to know is, to you (the list) agree? Why or why not? Where
any of the posted art not what you expected?

what do you mean "illustrating the artworks"? if you mean posting the
drawings to the net, then i dont think that was a waste of time. if you
mean making the drawings, i dont think so either. of course this comes
from someone who wants to see their drawing on the net...

<snip not an attack on granite>

All of the art was not what I expected. Doesn't mean I didn't like it :)

Dghost, I liked your stuff. You've got some real talent and skill. I'm
glad I got to see it. You'll be one of the first people I contact if I
need some art done :)

Without knowing what Granite specifically said I'm not going to agree or
disagree with him.

Thanks :)

Well, we've been arguing a bit about the deadline and (he) finally took
it offline. So how about if I remove Granite from the question (Which I
should have done in the first place.): Do you think that "adequate"
(don't worry about the definition of "adequate" in this case) time should
be given to actually draw and post to the web preliminary sketches should
be given BEFORE voting starts?

The reason I am asking was that I believe that time should be given and
Granite disagrees. I was arguing about that and after I sent off a
message, I stopped and realized that I was being a bit selfish... What
was important wasn't what *I* thought on the matter but rather what the
*list* thought. Therfore, I asked. (And I am including the above
explanation to hopefully show that I am in no way attacking Granite.)

Lastly, I've given Granite grief but he's stressed so I want to say that
it was very gracious of him to volunteer to handle the voting. :)

Your gratitude as well as all of the gratitude that has been
expressed to me before and during the voting is greatly appreciated..

I want to express my gratitude as well.

BTW, when will we know the results of the vote? I seem to recall that the
vote deadline was set for April 4th, but I'm not sure.

Well, since we've allready started voting the point is somewhat moot :)

However, I do have an opinion (imagine that :)

I would've rather been given a deadline to put t-shirt designs up, and
then followed by a vote on the available designs. I think that giving
the artists free reign to work on their best ideas would produce the
best end design for the T-shirt. But that's just me :)

As it stands now, IMHO anyone with artistic talent (whatever the form)
and an idea should put it together and put it up on a website, and then
inform the list, regardless of whether or not it fits with the idea
which got the most votes on the ballot. As I've stated before, in
years past the winning design more often than not was something other
than what the list originally had in mind. The list has a history of
working on one idea and picking something altogether different.

However, those of us who style ourselves artists should also focus our
skills on the idea the list chooses.
