I ran into some really cool illustrations in the Underworld Sourcebook
by this Mike Jackson guy. Has he done any other work for FASA that
anyone knows of? Or ANY other work for that matter. He draws the
coolest handguns. I think they should hire this guy to illustrate the
Cannon Companion or whatever the guns book will eventually be called.

(If I were still a practicing kibologist, I'd strongly suspect that
this post was actaully a troll, and I don't mean the metatype.) :)

Mike Jackson actually has artwork in a _majority_ of the more recent
Shadowrun products, you just have to look for his "MJ" signature in
those big block letters, or his name on the artist section of the
credits page. He's right up there with Laubenstein, Biske, Geier,
Nelson and Baxa as one of FASA's most used artists for Shadowrun.

A quick survey of the books I own shows that MJ has art in: Corporate
Security Handbook, Fields of Fire, Cybertechnology, VR 2.0, Shadowrun
Companion (1), Rigger 2, Underworld Sourcebook, Blood in the
Boardroom, Mob War, Corporate Shadowfiles, California Free State, Tir
Tairngire, and of course the BBB3. This is not a complete list, he
most likely has done artwork in SR books that I don't own too.

He's also done artwork for R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk game.

Hey Bruce, I found Mike's work interesting as well. IMHO, he IS the
best firearm and cyberware artist on FASA's payroll. I e-mailed FASA
and asked them for his e-mail address, and they told me he didn't have
one (really weird, don't ya think?). However, they did give me his
snail-mail address. As soon as I find it, I'll send it to you. If you
can't wait, just E-mail FASA like I did and ask them for it. He (Mike
Jackson) lives somewhere in Canada. BTW, I don't think any of his
artwork is posted on the net.....I did an exhaustive search and came up
dry. Good luck.

P.S. That Ares pistol in the front of "Underworld Sourcebook" really
kicks ass, doesn't it?

OK I'll bite funny-Paul, why is this post like a troll in your
"kibologistic" opinion?

It's just because the artist in question is one who's art is featured
in quite a few FASA books, and it's not like it's a big secret who the
artists for any given book, that info is put right on the credits
page. :)

The question comes across as one that shouldn't have to be asked, and
because it _is_ being asked, the old Kibo instincts in me make me
question the motive behind it. :)

It's like someone asking, "I just found a cool SR book written by Tom
Dowd. Has he done any other work for FASA that anyone knows of?" :)
It's not nearly as bad as that, but it is in the same ballpark. :)

If you have any more questions about "trolls" and "trolling" from a
Kibologist sense, I recommend that you go to the
alt.religion.kibology newsgroup on USENET, and post "What's a Troll? I
don't get it?"

I realise that. Unfortunately I'm stuck in the depths of the Third
World where the currency exchange makes it more than difficult to
afford every sourcebook FASA releases. Thus the questions. My goal was
to track down more of MJ's art.

[snip Sr and Cp2020 MJ sightings]

He also does work for the Battletech stuff. See the equipment section of
the mech desgin rules (the gauss rifle, etc.).

On a funnier note, I was really suprised when I first noticed that I was
doing artwork for FASA... I guess I must've been doing it in my sleep.
My second thought was "hey! why aren't I getting paid for this!", but then
I realized I must've been sleep-spending my paycheck too...

(see my name below...I usually go by Mike)
