Hya all, I've got a question again!

Suppose we have a Mage, Bob, and someone with a Mini-grenade launcher, Henk.
Bob has a Force 6 Barrier raised, with a 6 meter radius. Henk shoots his
mini-grenade at Bob. The mini-grenade hits the barrier. What happens?
As the damage code in the mini-grenade isn't based on ballistic but on
explosive damage, I personally think that when the mini-grenade hits the
barrier, it explodes, right?

Just wanted your opinion on this,

Yeah, that's how I usually handel it. When a grenade hits a barrier, it
explodes and you resolve damage to the barrier and whatever blow through.
Remember, when an attack excedes a magic barriers raiting, the barrier drops.
So with your example, assuming an IPE offensive mini-grenade (15S), the
grenade
would explode on impact, droping the power by 6, then dropped by a furthur 6
from distance, so Bob would have to resist a 3S attack. Even if he's only
wearing a long coat for armor, he should be fine. Unless the grenade shooter
has a friend with a minigun...

What happens is that the grenade explodes, because it hits a solid
obstruction, and then you apply the rules for barrier reduction (SRII p.98
or so); you can also refer to the barrier rules interpretations that
Damion Milliken and I wrote up and posted on the Shadowrun Archive and in
the latest PW book, available from my page.

Mini-grenades don't nesesarilly explode on impact- I'd say it bounces of
the barrier (or breaks though a really weak one, but how weak?), and
automaitically misses its target, scattering its full distance: 3d6
meters, with no succeses reducing distance or helping staging (it
missed, right?)

The only grenades that explode on impact are normally the special Ares
air timed rangefinder linked ones, and, as the barrier is NOT the target
spotted by the rangefinder, the situation would be pretty much like
above even using those.

Well, if mini-grenades are supposed to be the equivalent of current 40mm
grenade launchers, they really should explode on any impact beyond about 5
meters. Under 5 meters they have not yet armed themselves.

Of course, this leads to me having problems with the scatter rules for
launched grenades. Here's how I work it:

If the shooter's successes cancel the normal scatter for the grenade, and
the target does not dodge, he is hit with the grenade, and it explodes.
Ouch. Otherwise, the grenade misses and hits some nearby surface at my
discretion based on firing conditions, terrain, and whether this was
supposed to be indirect fire. I call anything beyond short range indirect
fire, in this case. Indirect fire is easy, use normal scatter, that's where
the grenade hits the ground, and goes off. Direct fire I tend to run off
the cuff with no set rules.

I allow these to always count as "indirect fire" as per my guidelines above.
or, at least, I think I will, since no one in my group has been able to get
a hold of these toys yet.

Well, if > then, but they ain't. FOF rules have grenades bouncing
around for 5phases before exploding, in which time you can grab them and
throw them back- the given TN for grabbing a mini-grenade is 8 (with
quickness). Yes, missing means you are at ground zero.

Not very real, maybe, but I think it was intended to be amusing and
reduce lethality (and grenade use as well).

That's for thrown grenades. Mini's explode on impact after they've flown
more than 5 meters.
