I found this and thought it was appropriate. Next time your
runners are corners/encountering Lone Star don't forget the
official warning of a corporate police force:

" You are hereby warned that any movement on your part not
explicitly endorsed by verbal authorization on my part may
pose a direct physical risk to you, as well as consequential
psychological and possibly, depending on your personal
belief system, spiritual risks ensuing from your personal
reaction to said physical risk. Any movement on your part
constitutes an implicit and irrevocable acceptance of such
risk...."
- Neal Stephenson's *Snow Crash*

I did it last night and they laughed it off... until the
Citymaster with the mounted MMG tore into their nearly
indestructable Troll.... then they stopped laughing...

[Taking this literally...]

Technically, corporate enforcement are not required to provide warnings,
nor are they required to "Mirandize" a suspect. They are also not required
to identify themselves when asked. Legally they fall under the same
provisions that allow for "citizen's arrests" and similar actions.

Federal, state, and local police must:

* Provide warnings before lethal or potentially lethal force is used. Such
warnings must be understood by the suspect, within reason, and he must be
given opportunity to surrender before such force is used.

* "Mirandize" a suspect at the time of arrest or incarceration. All effort
must be made to ensure that the suspect understands his legal rights
(Miranda cards carried by police in many areas are printed in languages
common to the area).

* Identify themselves as law enforcement officers when requested. Ie, if
you ask someone, "are you a cop?" and they are, they must answer in the
affirmative (there are some provisions for circumenting this one, though).

There are probably a couple of things I forgot, but those are the high
points. And they don't apply to corporate security, whether it be Lone Star
or Renraku's Red Samurai. Actually, they could apply to corporate security
retained as local law enforcement if the contract between the local
government and the security force stipulates it, but they definitely don't
apply to privately employed security forces unless they're feeling nice
that day.

Rat, I'd expect that the contract that Lone Star has requires them to
inform arrestees of their rights. Corps, on the other hand....

Lone Star's contract with Seattle probably does stipulate warning and
Mirandizing suspects, but I forget if anything is mentioned about it in the
Seattle Sourcebook (probably is). Corps, of course, don't; the warning you
hear from Renraku's Red Samurai will be a bullet between your eyes.

It depends on your state and local laws.

In the most general case, someone restrains someone else, says they're
making a citizen's arrest, and turns the someone else over to the
authorities. But the actual laws can vary significantly from state to
state, county to county, or even city/town to city/town. Many localities
don't even allow citizen's arrests whatsoever.
