Okay folks.

Page 78, under Biosystem Overstress:

"A character with a Bio Index greater than his essence index is in a
constant state of overstress" (snipped)

Now, I think I know the answer, but I want your opinion. By essence index,
do we mean "absolute essence value" or "current essence value"?

If it's the latter, then why did they choose to nerf the sammies with high
mods?

It's not too bad. Don't forget that your essence index is ess +3, meaning
a character with no mods has an essence index of 9.

If your character has a .05 essence rating, his essence index is 3.05. So
as long as you have a bio index < 3.05 you're fine. That's a whole 3
points to play with. Bio Index is the sum total of all bio-index values
for all bioware currently implanted. Essenece Index counts down, Bio
Index counts up.

The reason they did this, imo, is because as your flesh body gets replaced
with machine parts, there's simply less room to implant bioware.

Current, Frank. Absolute essence index/value is 9 for
all characters - over that, you're not overstressed,
you're dead.

As for the sammies? I'm starting to think it's a
freakin' plot. :)

As I just said, samurai have always been the least
powerful character type within their field of
specialisation - EVEN with bioware (the only way you
could change that was with a tactical computer and an
ungodly intelligence and number of sensory
enhancements). And SR3 has adversely effected them
more than any other character type.

Sorry, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Fuck it, I'm sticking with my adepts/mages.

I would like you to expound on this a bit more please. You seem to have
a certain distaste toward the power level of the Street Samurai. Or am
I taking this totally out of context?

Just a bit, I think. :)

This was a follow-on to my rant about Stress and how
SR3 in general appears to be designed to screw street
sam-type characters.

Personally, I prefer SR3 sammies to SRII sammies - TO
AN EXTENT. After a (admittedly quick) flick from M&M,
it seems that practically all the changes described
there have been designed to lessen the power of
sammies.

That's what this was about.

Anyway, fact of the matter is, I've always preferred
magickers in SR, so it doesn't really bug me that
much. Except for my super-cyber-assassin-face. She's
stuffed. :(

Alas.
