Essentially. I belive it was coined mostly for AD&D. Monty Hall is the host
of let's make a Deal. Monty gaming is basically incredibly overpowered
unchallenging and just plain lame. A good example is the campaign that 9 out
of 10 AD&D players have experienced...Going to hell and clearng out most of the
nine planes. (or at least killing Tiamat without breakng a sweat). In SR it
would be the equivalent of wiping out the entire Red Samrai alone, Rewriting
the entire Renraku computer structure without setting off an alarm, then
casting a force 34 Decrease Cybered Reaction -4 without taking any drain.

In other words, gaming without challenge.

Hey. I once upon a time had ONE character that managed to kill Tiamat. ;-)

Okay, I know cakewalking is an integral part of a "Monty Haulish"
campaign, but I had always understood that the larger part consisted of
the rewards given to characters.

For example, a Monty Haul adventure in Shadowrun would likely
consist of the runners taking out a couple of sammies and being rewarded
with 24 karma per character and a warehouse well stocked with brand new
MP laser systems, mortars, shells, Panther Cannons, Vindicators, and
100,000 rounds of APDS ammunition, all sitting under two gleaming 2055
Banshees (with leather, A/C, and those little windshield wipers for the
headlights) parked on the roof, right next to a little valet holding the
keys and a hot towel for everyone.

I've experienced the AD&D equivalent, but I've only actually been
a Shadowrun PLAYER twice, and the GMs were anything but Monty Haul
wannabees...

I know this list has experienced this before, but I wouldn't mind
reading stories from those who've played in Haulish Shadowrun
adventures. If you've GMed that sort of thing, keep it to yourself. The
carp are always at the ready...

Yeah... I had an eighth level Ranger that waltzed through the nine hells
and wiped out all of the arch-devils, six of them with psionics.

Asmodeus with a Power Word, Kill.

PS- Did I mention the Banshees were filled with 5000 =Y= certified
credsticks?
