Jeez, I hope I didn't discourage anyone from GenCon with my post about
the hotels. I should clarify some things. You *can* probably still get a
room, but it won't be in a downtown hotel. A couple years ago, for the
combined GenCon/Origins game fair, we managed to get a room at the one of
the hotels near the airport (I think it was the Holiday Inn), and we
didn't make the reservations until, oh, June or July. (They lost the 2nd
2 days of our reservation, but that's another story. :) ). Anyway, my
point is: you can still get a room, but you'll have to commute to the
convention center.

BTW, for Mr. Steele, it's held in Milwaukee, WI. August 18-21.

See ya round,
Craig

well, now that we know that a couple of us are going to gencon, do we wanna
set up a meet??

how about wednesday night after registration?? i know a great bbq place
(brew city barbeque) about 3 or 4 blocks from the convention center...my
friends and i have gone there for the past couple of years...

as far as hotels go, there are plenty of rooms-you just have to go through
the convention housing staff via the housing request form that comes with the
registration package rather than calling the hotels direct...true, you will
probably get a hotel aways from the con center, but normally it's only about
a 15 min commute...plenty of parking, best spot is over by city hall and the
police station, 1 block from the con center - they have a special convention
rate for parking for the whole day...
