Well, it's come to this: I'm arguing with one of my own posts. :)

I said that fighting a spell in astral space was instantaneous (What the DLoH
told me.) But, I reread the relevant section in the SR2 black book last night
and it says that the casting magician can assist his spell in the fight.
Moreover, if he casts other spells during the fight, he suffers a +2 modifier
just as if he were sustaining a spell. Now: If the fight was instantaneous,
how could the magician cast another spell?

There are 3 possibilities.
1) The book is wrong.
2) Herr Dowd is wrong.
3) I am wrong.

In short, who knows?

Cheers.

Go back and carefully read pages 147-8 Barriers and page 148 spells. There is
no mention of the fight being instanteneous. In fact it aludes to such things
as the caster of the bloked spell casting more spells while the fight continues.
In short, the fight is not instanteneous. It last as long as any other fight.

No, the book is right.

>>2) Herr Dowd is wrong.

Not the first or last time.

>>3) I am wrong.

Same for you.

I do.
