Why else would they take up memory in your cyberdeck?

Security measures would prevent that. Why else would you have to make a
Computer roll to do a system operation? Because without the proper security
passwords you cannot do anything in a system except wander around unguarded
nodes.

A cyberdeck is a specialized computer designed to produce and interpet a VR
that allows easy use of the computer Matrix. It is capable of running programs.
