Thought I'd add some points to Asym's list.

11) Don't use your real name when dealing with anyone on the Matrix or
people that hire you.
12) Only use drop boxes and cutouts for contact. Never use your real number
or location. If possible set up the contact numbers in a different
geographical area.
13) Never attend "decker meetings" or the future equivalent of 2600
gatherings if you are serious about decking. You will be watched and tagged.
14) Never physically contact your deckmeister or other illegal hardware
provider. Use cutout couriers. Always assume your fixer and provider will
sell you out for a single nuyen.
15) Never EVER deck from your home or an area near it.
16) Don't brag about your exploits on Shadowland or elsewhere.
17) Always assume any group of deckers will have an infiltrator from the
corps or goverment.
18) Be sure to not leave fingerprints, hair, or skin samples at any site
that you deck from or set up relays at.
19) Always assume your decker "friends" are actually federal agents.

20) Find a doctor good at treating ulcers and other stress related
illnesses. Geeze. If these tips keep you alive, they'll kill you! :)

I Liked the 6 peices of advice from tzeentch, but I couldn't find the first
ten. Does anybody have that list for me? We're playing here in Holland (near
Rotterdam) with a particular nasty GM who likes to pull the heat to our
group of 4 so I'd like to have something with which I can get the LS heat
off my back.

Thanks in advande

Here they are.. ;)

I thought I'd throw some firsthand experience in here about using the net
(internet/matrix/whatever) without much fear of being caught, if you're
careful.. so here are some of the ways I've avoided capture, or been
prepared to use, myself IRL when doing things that others frown upon on the
'net.

1) If you must pay for your access, pay in the equivilent of cash. Use a
fake name and address. Get an off shore account to pay out of, if they
insist on some kind of e-billing.

2) Go to the ugly green box, crack it open, and hook up.

3) Go to the side of someones house, crack open the smaller ugly green box,
and hook up.

4) ABUSE "free trials" of 'net services. I doubt those will go away. Sign
up for the free service with a bogus account, move on to another in a month
or whenever the free trial expires.

5) Steal. Steal cellphones, steal credit cards (credsticks). Steal
thumbs/eyes if you need an ID. ;)

6) Blackmail. You can't blackmail Acme Matrix Services almost for sure,
but you could blackmail just one of their admins into adding an account for
you with just a small amount of the right information.

7) Know people. (Fixers are your best friend as a Decker)

8) Stay informed. Before you go after the big glowing pyramid in
matrixspace, hack some less secure stuff nearby, like police dispatching,
so you can keep an ear out when they come after you.

9) Stay mobile. Very important to how you use information from #8.

10) Never, ever, EVER tell anyone who you are, where you are, what you're
doing, unless you absoloutly must. Your fixers shouldn't even know your
real name.

It should be in the logs for this week, try http://jackpoint.org.

Still too far north for me, but at least you don't live above Amsterdam
somewhere :)

21. Unplug every two hours and get away from your deck. Walk around a bit.
22. Plug yourself into a muscle stimulator before they completely waste
away.
23. Go outside at least every month and see if everything is still the same.
24. Don't fall asleep when plugged in.
25. Don't forget to wear your datajack cover when taking a shower. Also
don't deck while doing so.
26. Always make sure that it is the plug of your deck you 're plugging in
your head. Stereo systems hurt your head.
