Well, if you give them to your players Phill .. :)

Here's a few thoughts.

On the roll of Ones (heh) have the gun lock on to a wrong target. The gun
can only be reset by a skilled armouror/software techy

Give the gun a rating say, for example 8. The player rolls the rating against
modified TN and every two sucesses reduce the TN by 1. Basically the same as
Magical Centering skill. This makes the weapon very dangerous but still not
as gross. The newer the gun, the higher the rating.

If the Pc waves it about, have a "weapons collector" hear about it and
send people out to retreive it.

Yeah, I know, I'm crazy but I can't see the character abusing the item, if he
does he knows what's in store.

Nothing wrong with that but it has 2 problems a) You have to spend more time
making the initial roll. b) It still doesn't give a bonus if your TN happened
to be a 2 already. With my method you'd still get 3 extra dice.

Only a weapons collector ? How about every shadowrunner, fixer, corp and
sovereign nation in the area. But I can't see the runner doing it, he knows
it's top secret tech, even more secret because the TT don't want the TNO to
find out that they nicked the design. In fact I think he's worried to use
it unless he's given a specific job from his boss in the TT which involves it.

Phill.
