OK, I brought my VR with me today and I'm ready now to quote parts:

On sift: (VR page 39)
As mentioned in Computer System, a decker can skim a number of Mp of data
equal to his Intelligence Attribute Rating multiplied by 5 Mp per turn. The
rating of the sift program add to the decker's Intelligence Attribute for
this purpose. The decker can "speed-read" by increasing the flow of data.
The multiple by which the data flow is increased becomes the Target Number
of a Perception Test to spot the data the decker is looking for (end quote)

5 Mp per turn, that's ca. 1 Mp per second! Whow! Mp can't be that much data.
But after reading the GenCon report and what Tom Dowd has to say about Mp
it seems to be worthless to speculate how big a Mp is.

On Restore: (VR page 37)
The restore program rebuilds the temporary damage done to the MPCP by
programs and IC such as acid, binder, blind, jammer, marker, poison,
restrict, or reveal. To restore the rating of the persona program, make a
Success Test pitting the rating of the restore against teh rating of the
program that did the damage. (end of quote)

To the one who posted the question (I'm sorry I can't remember the name):
if you don't know sift and restore you don't own VR and if you don't own
VR you don't know all these acid, binder, etc. programs as well. So, you
don't need this kind of program.

Hope I could be of any help
bye,
Stefan

Thanks. I apprecitate all your typing. I do not own VR. I have
tried two places and they are no longer in stock. I hear they are not
printed any longer. I believe because there is a VR2 coming out soon.
So I will wait for that one. But in the mean time I will have questions.

You're welcome. If you got any questions in the meantime concerning VR just
ask me (maybe via private email). I can't wait 'till VR2 comes out, arg!
I'm in urgent need for techno-shamans (voodoo in the matrix) and I hope
there's something in this book. Just another six weeks ...
