Subject: MS and FASA Interactive Question

Just a question about MS's new rights to use the FASA game licenses. I
now understand that MS only owns the right for interactive media of FASA
products, but does this include computer based roll playing enchancers
too? If it does I could see MS complaining about some of the programs
written by the fans, some of which read this list regularly. Just a
question/comment though, I don't know if this is true.

I would imagine that *for now*, none of this changes any prior statements
from FASA Corp. on the subject. I'd imagine someone will say something
official once it all shakes out (assuming anything changes).

Doubt it. FI seemed only to have the licences to develop computer GAMES based
on the game worlds of FASA. Any other electronic products, especially those
meant to assist players of the RPG itself, probobly still belong to FASA
itself.

Hmm..... I think I'll CC FASAMike on this... it would be nice to get a
definative answer, wouldnt it?

I emailed Ross Babcock at FASA over the weekend (He was the person whom I
was keeping in touch with about PS '98). Here it is (His reply is first,
my question follows):

"Dear Adam,

Here is where I will be staying and only time will tell what MS will do with
the properties and rights that they have acquired. As you say, hopefully it
will not effect anything you will be doing.
