One thing I did notice about the article on GameSpot... it was delightfully
vague. Everything was 'our source' this and 'reliable informer' that. So
don't take it as gospel yet folks, but be prepared for a less than merry
Christmas. (At least, if you're as much of a fanboy/girl/thing as I...)

Is there an email address for FASA Interactive so we call them OUR views
on selling out to Sata---err--Microsoft? :)

I would assume that you could find one on FIT's website -
www.fasainteractive.com - but I doubt they'll much care because, frankly,
it's not your company and it's not a popularity contest. If they decide
that selling to MS is good for them then hell, they'll sign, no matter what
we tell them.

Especially since anyone who's enough of a fan to care will probably
continue to buy their products after the sale, if such a thing actually
occurs.

Yes there is, go to the FASA website, and look for related links. I also know
that FASAInt has their own site, but can't remember the URL. Convo with Mike
still happening...

Okay, just a generic note on this topic. Mike M.'s average opinion (personal)
is "No Comment". I asked him if this was along the lines of a NDA (Non-
disclosure Agreement), and he said no, it would be his general opinion.

I'm wondering exactly why everyone cringes the moment they hear MS is
interested in buying FASAInt? Arguably, there must be a reason that FASA
even contemplates selling it. They'd be generating cash to fund the other
areas of the company, or expand, or add new lines, or whatever. Plus, MS
doesn't, in general, buy a company, and then scrap its projects. It usually
buys a company BECAUSE OF those projects...so the stuff they're working on
will most likely ship regardless. They also don't usually buy a company and
strip its management away, then replace them, so chances are FASAInt would
be run by almost the same, if not exactly the same, staff, only they'd have
far more money available to them through MS' budget (most likely).

Only reason I have an opinion one way or the other is because an internet
games company that I started a few years ago has a publishing deal with MS
for its first game, and while they aren't buy the company out, they are
doing a good job of helping the company deliver the game and ship a quality
product. I constantly hear everyone stomp on them, but they've been nothing
but good development partners for us since we started dealing with them.

Just my $0.02 worth.

It was my understanding that FASA does not own FASA Int. Instead, the
same company owns FASA and FASA Int ... Am I mistaken?

According to the Gamespot "source" MS is planning on keeping Mechwarrior
but scrapping Shadowrun because they own another company that is working
on a similar game ...

If MS and FASA Interactive became partners on some or all projects or if
I knew that MS wasn't going to scrap Shadowrun, I wouldn't be complaining
... However, I just don't like M$ on general principle ...

By the way, I did grab the email address off of the FASA Interactive site
and sent a message off. Someone replied rather quickly with a concerned
sounding "No comment". :)

The same small group of people won both companies, AFAIK.

If this group of people got money in exchange for FIT, it seems likely that
some of it would be filtered to FASA.
