Subject: Multi-tasking w/Satellite Uplink?!?!?!

Yes, this sounds correct, but I think perception also includes trying to
target someone to shoot at. I mean, if it is a TN# of 10 just to NOTICE
someone, well...

Please look at the GREAT multi-tasking rules that Mr. Hayden and Mr. Esposito
took time to create for NAGEE 4. (If anyone wants JUST these rules I can
E-mail it to you) As I understand it, multi-tasking is only for things you
are jacked into. Not, between the real world and something else.

> You say a character has a sat uplink ? Is that in his head ?

Very much so - but the point I think we've missed are the facts on pg.33 of
VR. It states that (I'm paraphrasing now) "a satellite must first be found
and a program must be run to properly direct and align the antenna with the
satellite. The base time is 3 minutes. Decker must first make a Computer
Skill test of a TN# of 2 (from Countryside) to 8 (from downtown street).....
...Running through a satellite link also imposes a -2 mod. to the deckers
reaction attrib. because of the time delays involved."
Now to me, this sounds as if the decker (or satellite uplink) MUST be
stationary. ie. He can't run around and shoot people.

> But say he had a telephone, C2 deck, encephalon etc then I would say yes
> he could run round but witha +2 to all target numbers. Now if he were to
> sit down and try and run 2 decks things would be different..
First, to have a C2 deck the equivalent of a Fuchi Cyber-6 would take 3.8
essence. (if my figures are correct w/response inc.) Now, to add a decent
encephalon (at least level 2) to multi-task, is anywhere between .75 and 1.75
(for the true decker at heart) essence. That's 4.55 to 5.55 essence just
for those two things! (Talk about specializing in decking!)

Now what I disagree with is the telephone idea. I had just read this the
other night in SR2 pg.247 (SR1 - pg.126) under the equipment listings,
"A real headphone allows the user to access the telnet from his head. Like
all mobile phones, the quality of the link is unsuitable for a decking
connection." Also, besides that, the cybertelephone costs .5 essence.

According to the GREAT rules of Multi-tasking in NAGEE 4, to run 2 decks at
the same time would require even more cyber equipment than this individual
could place in his body. I mean we are talking another datajack (oh ya, I
forgot that in my initial calc.), I/O SPU's, FIFO memory buffer, and most
likely a Math SPU too.

I think the person should just be thankful to have a C2 deck (must be pretty
nice to have ALL that money and time to get one), and just decide to kill ICE
or people - not both at the same time.
