Yes but that would only bring those said attribute to what 96? Besides pain
it the only way to teach people like that how to behave.

If you have to ask then it's probably classified.
Which means that I have to follow protocol.
But if you ask nicley I might forget that you asked.
Then again maybe not.

Actually just let the munchkin go up against Loki's Void spirit or Either
Spirit....see how cocky they are after that!

Yes I'll have to check that out. But in any case do you want to listen to
the screams of agony after they have been defeated. I believe is sounds
something like a 2 year old. WAAHHHH, sniffle, wimper, WAAAHH, what do you
mean I'm dead. I think I'm pretty close on that description.

I still haven't completely tweaked the rules/stats I use for Ether or Void
into a postable format, but it's soon coming.

Also, Rookie they aren't Ether and Void "Spirits" the are entities. Since
it's believe a summoning is only pulling a small part of Either or Void
into our plane.

My basic premise is that much as all things in our physical plane are made
up of atoms, positive and negative energy, this idea applies to magic
planes and existence as well. Ether and Void. These are what's referred to
in magical thinking in simple terms as "IS" and "NOT". Ether is the
degree
to which something exists, Void is the degree to which something does not
exist. The ratio of these two properties is the building block of all
meta-physics. These rules apply to all schools, hermetic, shamanic,
druidic, etc.

Off this principle the players in my world are finding that highly skilled
and schooled magicians are capable of harnessing this "IS" and "NOT"
in the
form of entities in our plane, conjuring forth a portion of this power or
existence ina sentient form somewhat akin to an elemental or spirit.
However, though there are similarities, there are also MAJOR differences.
People in my sixth world are beginning to find out what happens when
someone plays with powers they do not fully understand.

I'll let you know when I have all the mechanics in a recognizable format.
Hopefully more of this will then make sense.

What I meant about relying on rules was in reference to prior actions within
the game or combat, not during creation. I thought something would work so
I set up for that, then the GM goes and says I can't do that when I thought
I could, and had planned on it, that is what I meant. I didn't say GM's
couldn't interpret the rules, I just said that often if the GM is making
snap decisions in the middle of a session, those don't always turn out to be
the most rational or fair rulings. Maybe I wasn't too clear, I realize that
the GM has the final word, I would just like to remind all you GM's that
haven't played recently that just because a player is arguing does not make
him wrong, we often have valid points, and at the least, you need to be a
little understanding about the fact that other people have interpretations
of the rules. Finding out you can't summon a watcher in a complex action
when you're pretty darn sure you can, and had relied on that as the basis
for communication later, and were a little pressed for time because of the
Lonestar HTR moving in...SUCKS (been there -- and I don't think you can
accuse me of using the rules just for blatant violence in that example. Oh,
and, also, Lonestar was there because they were hitting the facility we were
picking up from, not because we drew them to us.)

Also, I never said the GM couldn't interpret the rules, I just said that I
dislike it when that final say-so power is abused. Please don't misquote
me. In fact, I prefaced by saying that I basically agreed with the previous
post, and was only putting forward a partial defense.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't accuse me of munchkinism just because I had
a view of how the rules work in this game --that isn't to say I don't play
munchkin characters though :)

BTW, don't you find it ironic that you are quoting the rulebook as cannon in
defense of the right to not go by the book as cannon. :)

Okay, that's better. I agree, GMs should listen to players. However, no is no. Rules
arguments ruin a game, I should
know (eh, Twinkie?).

These messages were posted a long time ago on a mailing list far, far away. The copyright to their contents probably lies with the original authors of the individual messages, but since they were published in an electronic forum that anyone could subscribe to, and the logs were available to subscribers and most likely non-subscribers as well, it's felt that re-publishing them here is a kind of public service.
