Official combat load is 7 Magazines. 30 rouns apeice. 210 Rounds. Actual
loads vary. I know I used 2 quart canteen ammo carriers with 6 mags in
each, 28 rounds in each magazine and 3 on the rifle (1 up and two tapped to
it). or 420 round ready. I would carriey at least 4 stripper clips and 5
extra magazines in my butt pack. 140 more rounds. 5-10 mags in the
rucksack, 280 rounds. And depending on the type of mission 1-6 bandoliers
of clipped (non magazined) rounds 180x1-6) so 700 ready rounds plus reloads
from clipped ammo.

AT'4s arnt light compared to Laws, but they do a hell of alot more damage.
I packed two vests for my 203, a large 'fag bag' of buck rounds for it, and
1 AT-4. I had no less that 8 in my hummer and 12 in th Track.1 Dragon in
both also.

As a merc yeah this fits but the argument was about shadowrunners on runs
packked to the teeth. and I stand by my previous statements. Ill dig up
the new ruel books and type up what i'd consider a multipurpose load for
anyone who is interested in a 3 time combat veteran (now running shadowes)
opinion.

Sure, if you're playing a soldier or merc in a
warfare-based campaign. Most shadowrun campaigns
involve stealth-based missions, or at least missions
where drawing a lot of attention to one's self is bad. Not
having handled much heavy weaponry myself, I
nonetheless know that all such weaponry is attached to
one's body through buckles, straps, and catches, all of
which make a lot of noise when supporting heavy
weights. Also, explosions and automatic fire tend to
catch people's eyes and ears.

In other words, firepower is good, but I tend to think
there's a reason why SWAT teams don't carry LAWs -
they're there to do a specific job (get in, subdue perps,
get out alive) and extra gear they might carry in case the
perps have, um, an attack chopper, just gets in the way.
Likewise, shadowrunners want to accomplish the
mission in as quick and clean a manner as possible,
and that LAW is a liability - try vaulting down stairs
carrying a metal tube on your back, or trying to get
through a door carrying a hip-mounted squad attack
weapon, f'rinstance. Sure, it can be done, and the more
professional and familiar a character is with the
weapons involved, the less said weapon is going to get
in the way, but there are limits to even the most
professional character.
