Hey guys !

Has anyone else noticed that there is a new group (contradictory to
the Munchkins) out there ? Personally I call them the TCWs which
stands for "Tres Chique Weaklings".

Whom I mean by this are players that consider it good roleplaying
if they build a character as weak as possible because they fear they
could be called Munchkins. Quite a lot of them are Ex-Munchkins who
don't want to be called "Munchkin !" all the time so they become TCWs
because noone can tell them they are munchkinous, then. There are even
some people who fear their own tendency towards Munchkinism and hence
become TCWs (in fact I am convinced that most of the hardcore
"Munchkin-hunters" are out of this category).

In my eyes both are bad roleplayers, because roleplaying doesn't
depend on how strong or how weak you are but on how good you play a
role. At least that's what I always thought. Personally I`ve played
everything from combat-monsters to weaklings that were hardly able to
defend themselves - and I liked ALL of them in their special way.

Why do I post this ? Simple: I noticed that quite a lot of the people
on the list have a tendency towards pointing the finger at someone
else they don't know and calling him "Munchkin" or even worse
insulting him. This is really bad style. Noone can tell anyone he
hasn't experienced in game a Munchkin. You CAN say a CHARACTER (NOT a
player) has a tendency towards Munchkinism - O.K., but you can NEVER
call anyone a Munchkin if you haven't played with him. The SAME goes
for TCWs. I played weak characters myself just to experience how it
feels and I loved playing my StreetSam that kicked MAYOR ass.

So stop playing little popes and gods and holier-than-you-preachers,
let's discuss things in a civilized way and try to have CONSTRUCTIVE
discussions.

That's it for now, I just HAD to say this once - hope I didn't step on
too many toes. Later,
Georg

I actually did this once while playing Champions. I had quite the
reputation for finding every loophole in the game. So when a friend
started running it this year I made it a point to make a low powered
character and (I thought) emphasized roleplaying. It sucked (for me). I
finally had to sit down with the GM and rework my character. I still
avoided the loopholes, but had to make a decent character. The lesson I
learned was use what you're given to make a character and make them as
capable as they can be at what they do.

Mayor McCheese... I hear McHughs did a little extraction and got him out
of a secluded corporate think tank that will remain unnamed... =)
