:Let's see.
:According to Shadowbeat (Original title: The Uber Sourcebook ;), One
:HD/DS Mini CD holds 500 Mp which is over 8 *HOURS* of normal spectrum
:sound or under 3 *HOURS* for Extended Spectrum sound! WOW! Can you
:imagine up to over 8 hours for 10 (US) bucks??? That's obscene!

That is not a low price if copyrights are hard to enforce; information
then drops to near the price of distribution. I think in SR, that is
likely the case. Of course, the flipside of that is fewer people can make
money in the recording business, so either live music picks up or the
number of "quality" musicians drops. The later seems to be the case in
SR; apparently, the major media marketers literally crank pop out of a
computer, based on other current hits.

Heh ... since you didn't include a page ref, I'll assume you came up with
that independently of Shadowbeat? (Well, it was very similar to
Shadowbeat ... not identical)

Rockers get income from both live performances and recordings. The
cheapness of the CDs for so much time (Btw, it says that a CD can hold
that much music, not that it always does ... every CD is not filled to
the brim ... in fact, I'd say most single CD products do NOT use the
entire CD ...) is possibly due to an obscene amount of mass distribution
rather than lack of ability to enforce copyrights.

Lastly, Shadowbeat mentioned Song-O-Mats being used to crank out instant
successes (That are garaunteed not to offend or to offend just enough
...). You weren't to far off from FASA on your guesses ... not bad. :)
