Subject: My Shadowrun group's latest exploits...

This week [for those who got hit by my last posting] found Sam,
Sasha, and Kohl, one week after Nemo's funeral. Sam wasn't sure how she
felt about the whole shooting incident; the image of Nemo's face when
she shot him, hovering in her dreams. the girls threw themselves into
their training, Sasha almost to the point of collapse.
On Wednesday, after the twins morning run, and small arms practice,
they came back to the farmhouse to find a silver Citroen parked next to
the Saab. Already fingering whatever weapon they had at hand, they
cautiously entered, to find Kohl talking with an attractive dark blonde
elven woman. He [after giving them a disparaging look] introduced them
to Marta, who seemed slightly amused by the whole affair.
Excusing himself for a moment, he took the twins into the living
room, around the large circular fireplace.
Activating the JVC Mirage Holoprojector, it recreated the image of a
slender man in his thirties, with a haggard face, on the couch next to
them. His name was Adam Weishaupt. As the recording went on, Mr.
Weishaupt related to them that he was an interior designer with a
prominent Feng Shu firm, based out of Hong Kong. He was in Vienna for a
few weeks tending to business, and had decided to go out to sample the
night life.
He ended up at a place called the Enks's, where he met an
incredible woman. They went to a hotel, and then after a few drinks, he
said he couldn't recall any further events. He awoke in the bed, with
ICY-Fresh Paks around his abdomen, feeling extremely weak. Barely
calling the EMT on the hotel's trid, he was whisked away to the
hospital. There,he discovered his left kidney and lung had been removed.
He been referred to Kohl by another party, and wanted to hire him
to procur some kind of justice to the people who did this to him.
When the message ended, Kohl told them he'd spoken further with the
gentleman, and decided to take the job. Just as he was about to
elaborate, the tele buzzed again. Sticking a lead onto the subdermal
induction trode in his wrist, he answered the call. After a few minutes,
he ripped the trode off, and went to the concealed wall space in the
dining room where the armory was. Grabbing a few items, he turned into
the kitchen, the twins hot on his heels, asking what was up. He told
them [pulling his H&K pistol out of the freezer, and checking the
action] he had some business to take care of, and they were in charge of
the organlegging case. Before they could protest further, he was tearing
down the road in the Saab.
Marta just looked over at them and shrugged.'He's like that
sometimes'.
Marta offered to lend a hand with their job, as she was more
familiar with the area, and the people. On the drive into Vienna, she
revealled the startling revalation she was with INTERPOL. She was on
leave, and decided to drop in on Kohl. However, she confided in them,
she's really come to Vienna on the trail of an international
eco-terrorist named The Dutchman. She'd been tracking the activities of
his group, Winternight for three years, having come close only once.
This encounter cost her the life of her partner, and placed her in the
hospital for several months. She was the only person alive to identify
The Dutchman. She asked the twins not to let Kohl know about her real
reasons for visiting, to which they agreed.
Thru her sources at INTERPOL, Marta told them, according to the
M.O., it was most likely the work of a large organization they'd been
trying to keep tabs on for a few years now, without success. The only
thing the polieze had learned was a name...Tamanous.
Since it's incursion into the Euro-Theater, the number of missing
persons cases had risen dramatically, most notably amoung the
disenfrachized and homeless. And because the majority were SINLESS, with
no known realtives, they were relegated low priority. No one cares, she
remarked with some disparity.
Following up their last lead, they went to a Stim Puppet bordello
called the Body Shoppe. The proprietor was a disreputable dwarf by the
name of Slazinski, or as he'd been dubbed, 'Sleezy'.
Narrowly avoiding caving the man's skull in, they requested a room
and 'suitable' entertainment [with much leering from Sleezy :-]. When
they finished checking for bugs and concealed cameras [totalling 7,
including two in the john], the 'entertainment' arrived, in the form of
a 13 year old ork boy. All 'staff' were modified to use p-fix [persona
overlay] chips to become whoever...or whatever their clients desired.
After convincing the boy they only wanted to talk, they gradually pulled
a very sordid picture form him.
He'd been snatched off the streets of Istanbul when he ws 12, and
sold by a Serbian pornography ring to this establishment last fall.
Since then, he'd not seen the outside world. The turn over was quite
high, as the 'staff' was throughly abused by the clientele. ANd any who
tried to escape, or were disobedient, were given over to the 'DOCTOR'.
[Their ears really perked up at that.]
The 'Doctor' came once a month, to give all the staff checkups, and
occasionally to removed an organ or two from whomever they chose. The
rest were left to Sleexy's tender mercies
This really tripped everybody's trigger, and they swore to get the
boy out. When they asked when the Doctor was scheduled to make his next
visit, he told them tonight. They eventually decided they would have to
leave Ingo [the ork] here for just a few more hours, and come back
around midnight.
They made brief plans to rendevous back at the Body Shoppe before
midnight. Since the farm was to far away, they headed up to Gerik's
estate, in the vineyards to the north of the city, where they bought a
few specialty non-lethal items [ Kohl had made them promise, ZERO body
count unless ABSOLUTELY necessary].
On the way back to Vienna, they were pulled over by a black sedan.
Four men surrounded their car, one of them handing them a Sony Walkfone.
On the screen appeared the man they knew only as 'Control'.
After asking them what they were doing at Sleezy's establishment,
he told them, to leave Sleezy ALONE. His people had the place under
serveilance, and Sleezy worked for them. If they persisted, they would
only get hurt.
This REALLY made them suspicious, but they wouldn't change their
plans. Meeting up with Marta, the twins would go in as patrons again,
while Marta watched the front.
Once inside, they started to search the place, according to the
map Ingo had drawn for them. Making their way to the 2nd floor, they
quietly took out one of the men who usually accompanied the Doctor on
his trips. Using a fiberoptic camera under the door, they observed 3
hostiles in the room. The Doctor, who stood over a prone body on a
makeshift operating table, his second escort, who was near the door, and
Sleezy, who watched the precedings with avid interest. That left the one
bouncer in the front vestibule, with the other bouncer unaccounted for.
On the silent count of three, they kicked the in, quickly
narcojetting all three inhabitants [the guard by the door had to have
his head rammed into the wall a few times before he went down]
On the operating table was Ingo, with a thin red line where the
Doctor had just started to make an incision. Afterstrip cuffing the
tangos and closing the door as best they could, they injected the Doctor
with a syntehtic variant of nightshade, that as a side product acted as
a truth serum.
They were able to get out of him, he was apart of an organization
called Tamanous. They'd made a deal with the Yanos Group [the Russian
Mafia] to let them cull valuable merchandise from their establishments,
with Yanos men providing security, for a split in the profits. Sam then
noticed an elaborate signet ring on the man's index finger.
Sam found the card key to a door in Sleezy's office, Ingo told them
no one but Sleezy went into. Inside, to their further horror, it was a
meat locker, with 2 bodies depending from the ceiling in plastic bags.
Just then Sasha's olfactory senses went wild, with a scent she'd
picked up once before on Gerik. She barely spat out the word,'Tango',
when the door exploded into flinders, and a large ghoul [ the unknown
roving bouncer] stormed in. Thanks to Sasha's warning, Sam was already
preped for him, whipping out her Manhunter, sending 3 rounds into the
ghoul, propelling him back into the hallway.
With an eye on the clock, Sam went downstairs to the basement with
Sleezy's access card to set the other prisoners free. On her way back by
the lobby she saw, 4 men in long coats, moving with that deliberate
gangster slowness <John Woo grin> come in the front door, and started
shooting anyone who tried to escape. Sam exchanged gunfire while
retreating up the stairs.
She and Sasha bundled Ingo through the fire door out onto the fire
escape, when another car squelled across the entrance to the alley. 3
men got out, one carrying what looked like a monsterous SMG. He fired
it, just as Sasha threw herself and Sam back in. The round went thru the
wall, and the ceiling above their heads. They back pedalled fast as four
more blasts tore thru the wall like it was tissue paper.
Ingo was jsut barely conscious now, and they asked him if there was
another way out. He pointed to the roof. [Sam groaned. Seemd she spent a
lot of time jumping off roofs these days]
While Sasha held the Mafia soldiers off on the stairs, Sam, with
Ingo in tow, broke unto the roof. Ingo barely made the jump onto the
next rooftop, and when Sam followed the hand cannon boomed again,
blowing the head off a stone gargoyle where she'd been a second before.
Sasha boiled unto the roof, rolling a flashbang grenade behind her,
then threw herself across the intervening space. She slipped, and banged
heavily against the side of the building, dangling from a cornice, open
to fire. Luckily the man with the portable cannon, was reloading, but
bullets from his compatriots were still coming hazardously close. Sam
yanked her over, and the trio skirted across the rooftops.
Some time later, they rendevoused with Marta, whose left arm was
strangely immobile, blood dripping out from under the cuff. She told
them, she was just about to come in, when a car squelled to a halt in
front of the building, disgorging 6 thugs. 2 stayed outside while the
rest went in. She managed to powerbolt one, and shoot the other, when
some guy with what she believed was a Maadi-Griffin .50BMG pistol opened
up on her. She barely drove away from her car, over a hedge, when the
rounds slammed into her citroen, hitting the petrol tank, and turning it
into a blazing inferno.
The Vienna Police roared up in the Saabs, but the gunsman calmly
turned and destroyed the first car on the scene, his companion putting 3
rounds into one cop that managed to get out of the car. Marta had limped
away, just as more police were arriving, and saw the mob men fading
also.
The girls put in a call to Gerik, the only contact in the city they
really knew, asking him if he could transport a 'package' in his
pipline. He agreed, on proviso they someday perform a favor for him.
A man form Gerik met the, on the road to the Airport, where they
gave a tearful, and until then disbelieving boy, 5 thousand EC, and told
him he was going home. Marta sat in the back of their cab, resting.
The messenger from Gerik gave them an envelope, saying they would know
what to do with it.
Inside the envelope were a couple of invitations to an exclusive
party at the penthouse of one Wilhelm Steiner. Steiner threw parties for
his rich guests, catering to their 'excentric' tastes. Sleezy had on
occasion provided party favors for him.
When they got home, they finally relaxed. Kohl still had not come
back. Just as they were about to plan what to do, they heard the Saab
pull up, and a few moments later, Kohl walked in, glanced around once
and asked how did it go. Ignoring their questions, he replaced his HK in
the refrigerator, and went upstairs.

[For the record, Kohl got a call from an old aquaintance, and drove to
Prague to meet him. The two talked in a cafe for several hours, which
ended when Kohl pulled his silenced pistol, and shot the ohter man under
the table, before he could do likewise. Then he calmly got up and walked
out.]

Well, that's all for this week. Hope this amused someone. And for
those who think the subject matter a little too intense, or outlandish,
I just wanna say, it was inspired by real life horrors that are going on
now, in many parts of the world. Stuff that people just don't know
about, but it's all there, for thsoe who look. Enough of the soap opera.
Until next time...

Kohl, the ork gunslinger, fighting the good fight.
