List is so quiet, I might was post post some ramblings...

So what are people doing with SR4?

I am trying to introduce my d20 obsessed players to it but it is hard to
rework their mindset. To combat this I am not running your stanard Shadowrun
game.

I have tried to limit their experience to what I need on a per session
basis, I have thown out some of the setting that gets in the way of my goals
as much as I can.
The campiagn is modelled a little on the South Korean film Volcano High with
a bit of Harry Potter.

Students (players) are in a Boarding School that is reserved for the
children of Evo Corp employees, all of them are screwups with alot of
potential.
Most are metas with attitude problems and/or a magical talent.

The character gen has been limited of course, as they are all around 14 (no
cyber unless a good reason, little resources, virtually no skills).

Most sessions are outside of class time and are events that favour part of
the rules set (and they get a test at the end of every session on rules that
will give them an extra karma point).
This is combined with a highly competive School House System that leads to
rewards to the highest ranked "House". This allows me to run sessions about
school competitions and house rivalry (there has been some backstabbing
already, so all good).

Outside of the Boarding School however the world is a different, they are
based just outside of Sydney in the Blue Mountains (still a city state, but
without the silly population of half of Australia, I could not help cringing
throughout Target:Awakened Lands).

Just when they entered ghouls are more prevalent across the country
(astrally sensitive microorganisms on the mainland is strangely less lethal
but more contagious) which is leading to a national pandemic.
(imagine "28 Days Later" combined with "Land of the Dead") which will
result in Australia as a nation is falling, leaving quickly to a wasteland
with pockets of "safety" where megacorps have fortified suburbs and no rule
with an iron fist.
This has led to a surprising influx of megacorp money as this suburbs start
as relief efforts by corporations with lip service to the Commonwealth and
end up being for all purposes megacorp property that is free to do as they
will.

By the time they leave the boarding school (either on their own terms or
Evo's) Australia's society will have more than a few parallels with
Earthdawn. This I hope will allow me to isolate the PCs from repurcasions

The only issues I am having is finding background on Evo, about their mars
habitat (I am an Aeon Trinity fan, sue me).

I am trying to work out a nicer stat block as well for characters and
critters (similar in concept to the new one being used by WotC for D&D).
I find the condensed stat blocks in the book to be a little too sparse for
someone grappling with a new ruleset.
