*They make for great fun for both the GM and players....as both try
*desperately to figure out what it is exactly. We ran one game where the

Sounds kinda like an adventure our GM put us through a couple months back.
It all started with us getting released from a mental institution with no
memories of the previous 20+ years (not to mention no gear). The man who
got us out (turned out to be a johnson. wow, big suprise.) wanted us to do
a little job for him. All we had to do was deliver this package from Seatle
to the Ares complex (or whatever) in Denver. Well we managed to deliver the
package with minimal complications. Well, we forgot to ask *who* the package
was to be delivered to, but hey, we all make mistakes. At any rate, we
eventually discovered that at one time we had each possessed an item (magic
foci) that our souls were connected (bonded) to, and the only chance of
regaining our memories was to retrieve these items. As it turns out, the
foci in question for one of our party members was inside that package way
back at the beginning of the adventure. If he had opened the package right
away, he immediately would have had full memory (or so the GM said :) of the
whole conspiricy, and blah blah blah. You get the idea. Now, months later,
that item had changed hands so many times that it was damn near untracable.
God I love the mind of a devious GM. Guess maybe I taught him too much. ;)
