Ahem. Here goes....

Hello, my name is Scott, and I'm a newbie. So if
I do anything wrong, gimme a poke and tell me how to
correct it (and yes, I've read the list of forbidden
topics). Now that _that's_ out of the way....

I've been trying to track down some out of print
books, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about
the 2 NAN books. Are they worth the hunt? Just
wanted to know before I whip out the ol' VISA.

Thanks ahead of time,
Scott

IMHO, NAN1 is way better than NAN2, but one of the reasons is that NAN1 has
a full adventure in it, which I've had a lot of fun running, while NAN2 has
no adventure. Both have lots of useful info if you're going to be playing
or having Native American characters who follow their tribal customs in your
game. I'd say that they're both worth tracking down.

Welcome, Scott! You're off on the right foot, anyway!

I vote yes; there are some good adventures in there, and a fair amount
(if not entirely accurate) background on NA and the NAN. Go for it if
you can find them.

Your NAN3 must be awfully thin... Mine has more than half the book
dedicated to an adventure titled Eye Of The Eagle, and unless you've got a
major misprint I suppose all versions have that same adventure in it...

Ummmm...NAN3? If you meant NAN2, I suppose I should go back and look at it
again, but I remember being disappointed with it because it didn't have an
adventure like NAN1, but that it was still and excellent sourcebook. Maybe
I've been hit with an Influence spell? :) I'll go back and check.

Same here; both volumes had an adventure, one more useful than the
other, IIRC.

I ran the 'Eye of the Eagle' adventure a year or so back (okay, by the time
I was done with it, it really wasn't the same adventure) and it ended up
being a whole lot of fun.

I have both the NAN sourcebooks and I can't say that one is better than the
other, but I can say that the adventures certainly outdo the source
material. They remind me of the 'Paradise Lost' Adventure with 10 pages on
Hawa'ii in the back (although that would be an exaggeration in this case :).

IMHO they're worth having, but after you get past the adventures, you might
find the remaining material of little use.

My opinion, though. :)

Actually you are a lot closer to the mark than you think, if you divide it up
into countries, they each got around 10 pages (give or take)
So in other words, stop calling them sourcebooks, since they are adventures
(with source material included also :-)

I believe Gurth meant NAN2 as well, as that is where Eye of the Eagle
(complete with rampant Dog Bitch Shamaness type and Eagle Shapeshifter)
originated IIRC. It was a really cool adventure twist, especially with the
introduction of another type of Shaper that wasn't listed in the books (which
had several of my players wondering for a while at the time).

Yes. The 2 and 3 are right next to each other on my keyboard, you know :)

Both NAN books have an adventure in it, I'm 100% sure of that.

With the difference that the NAN books are numbered in the sourcebook
range (7200-series) while Paradise Lost is numbered as an adventure (7300-
series). That makes the NAN books, according to whoever assigns book
numbers at FASA anyway, sourcebooks.

Oh I have no doubt, what FASA says may not reflect what the product really is
though, nay? :-)
Simply put, the sourcebook part took up less (per country) than the
adventure. So it should have been an adventure :-)
