Well I've read the article and I've read some of the comments on nega mages
and to be honest I can't see how they would unbalance any shadowrun game.
The only provisio I would include is that when making the roll to see if you
lose any magic on istalling bioware/cyberware, I would not allow karma re-rolls
or karma auto-successes. Otherwise all you have a prime formula for
people who like to powergame (aka munchkins).

On the subject of just including them as bad guys. Look at them, any sam worth
his salt will have taken one of these guys out before he's had chance to laugh
at the mage in the party.

All in all I think the nega mage could make an intresting addition to the ever
increasing ranks of shadowrun archtype. He would probably find his niche
somewhere close to the Phys Ad though not as powerful.

If you really wanted a bad guy how about bending the rules on PA's and negas
and combine the two. Super spy or what :)

Concerning the Nega mage and Nega adept rules posted earlier:

I like it! They actually have some basis in other SR rules, they make sense,
and are not too outrageous. Sure, they are very resistant to magic. But:
a) They are not IMMUNE to magic. It can still have an effect.
b) They are still vulnerable to other stuff like guns, crashes, etc.

As for how I would add to or modify what was posted:
a) Give Negas a resistance to paranormal effects that are magical in nature,
such as Essence Drain, Flame Aura, that sort of thing.
b) Make spells cast out of close proximity to the nega suffer effects similar
to the effects the nega has on spells cast at things in that area. (in other
words, a normal mage will have to get away from the nega in order to have any
spells work)
c) Possibly have magic items in this area cease to function while in the area.
Give them an opposed test of the items Force or Power vs the Nega's Magic
attribute.
