Hello out there.

I just stumbled across this list yesterday (thanks to WebCrawler<tm>) and
I was so thrilled I could barely contain myself. If my fiancee' hadn't
been out of town I'd have GM'd right then and there...but I digress...

I have three questions:

1) One of my co-workers was discussing RPGing with me while we were
putting together PCs...and he mentioned that when he used to play AD&D,
they used a home-grown system they called 'states of mind.' It worked
something like this: each character would define 4 or 5 'states' in
which their character could be in, ranging from relaxed to very aware to
extremely paranoid. They defined what their character had readied, etc.
The DM had a written copy of each character's states of mind, also.
During play, they'd just tell the DM what state they were in at any given
time (and whenever their state changed) instead of having to list each
time "I take out my sword, wear my cloak, and scan the woods around us
constantly." Although I'd never thought of this, it seemed like an
excellent concept. My question is: has anyone put into practice such a
system in SR? If so...I'd like to hear about it, because I'm thinking of
implimenting it when I start GMing again.

2) I just downloaded srcg.zip and have been playing with it. Does anyone
else out there that uses it have a fiarly comprehensive GEAR.DAT file?
If anyone does, PLEASE email it to me...I'd certainly appreciate it.

3) It's been a while since I've played SR at all, and since the Black
Book came out after my gaming group started quitting out on us (doncha
hate it when that happens?), I never bought the second edition book. Can
someone tell me what is DIFFERENT about it??

Thanks in advance, and I'm SO glad to have found this place!
