FASA doesn't have anything official, and the closest that anything has come
was some articles published in White Wolf magazine a couple years ago. Most
of it was about voodoo, but there was some good New Orleans info in it.

White Wolf did a series on that years ago I believe issues 31 to 35 if my
memory serves. Atleast that's the info I use for my campaign.

I have one of those issues, the one with a short adventure in it. Short and
very deadly. The npc nemesis is way out of hand, I guess he is supposed to
get away and be a reacurring theme, because he would chew up any
shadowrunning team I've ever been in. New Orleans was/is/will be a very
interesting city, and I would love to see some info on it. I didn't realize
the White Wolf issue I have was part of a series...I just bought it for the
shadowrun adventure and the pic of the cool chica on the cover.

I'd heartly advise getting ahold of the rest of the issues. Your best bet is
to directly call White Wolf and see if they still have the back issues. I
talk to Mike McDounough(Sp?) and got copies for nothing. So they do tend to
support the gaming society. Maybe you can con someone else into typing them
up for you.
The articles included a list of archetypes unique to the area "Natives of
the Big Easy", two adventures "The Darkest Shadow" and "Party
Crashers", A
article on voodoo predating the awakenings book "Magic over Bourbon St"
with a much simplier system for houngans which I like alot and finally the
general article "Shadows Across the Big Easy"

Give White Wolf a call that how I got my second set of the mags. Just make

Hello everyone,

The GM's work knows not the concept of weekends or festivities. :) So here
I go with another enquiry. I have a White Wolf magazine I got somewhere,
dated from 1992, that has an article about New Orleans for SR. Since my PCs
are about to have a small adventure there I wondered if the NO setting in
Target: Smuggler's Heaven was something alike (I don't have it). For those
who have never seen that article, some of the White Wolf's New Orleans
chracteristics are:

- Zulu Nation: A district of African PPL that has its own jurisdiction
- Ork Town: A district of metahuman, mostly Orks and trolls.
- Lots of vampiric activities.

Wow... I think I had that exact same issue of White Wolf. The *only* one I
had. Also had a quick-and-dirty barely-any-rules LRPG in that issue, right?

Anyway, no, the description of New Orleans in Smuggler Havens doesn't
mention any of those as such, although it does talk a lot about the 'undead'
(incl. ghouls and plenty of zombies). It also mentions that most metahumans
(esp. orks and trolls) have been pushed to outlying areas of the city. But
hey, there isn't much that contradicts the WW stuff, so you could combine
the ideas pretty easily.

Oh, happy holidays everyone, especially to the good folks at FASA. They
zipped me an order that was supposed to take 10 weeks and took about 2
instead. Got here right on Christmas Eve, in fact.

Not to mention there are those of us who don't care about all this
Christmas crap in the first place...

That would be issue 31, 32, 33, 34 or 35; they ran a series of articles
about voodoo and New Orleans in those.

> Since my PCs are about to have a small adventure there I wondered

The two are very different, from what I've seen (I have two of the WWM
issues and Target: Smuggler Havens) and not very compatible, AFAIK. If you
want to run an adventure in New Orleans, you'll have to decide whether you
want to go with the WW version, or buy T:SH and use that instead. If the
idea is to do a single adventure there, and then never get back to the area
again, using WW's material seems like the better choice to me, unless
you've got a need for the other material in T:SH.

And since neither version are very accurate/up-to-snuff with the real
world's issues (Nutria and Platial Depressions) you may as well come up with
something almost completely your own anyway.

What are the two I mentioned?

At the current rate of sinkage, by the year 2060, the city of New Orleans
will be numerous feet under water. No, I'm not kidding. Its a current
"outlook project" for the Army Corp of Engineers.

Nutria... I was stunned at the stuff on these little buggers... okay,
cutesie little furry rodents that eat any kind of vegetation they can get
their hands (and have webbed feet to boot), have webbed feet and reproduce
at a rate that make salmon and rabbits jealous and seeking Viagra
supplements. The problem with them is they are literally devouring whole
sections of the lowlands/bayou's, and as the matte of peat-like vegation is
destroyed along the surface, it is becoming more and more susceptible to
erosion/weather-related damage. Hence, the bayou's are also vanishing.

Has given me tons of ideas for games in just those two little tidbits of
factoids. (Awakened Nutria and a barge-like "Bourbon Street" to start).

And Nutria aren't even originally from the US, they are from South
America. They arrived on a cargo ship in Louisiana during the early
settlement period.

Nope, well, not amazingly high.

T:TH's NO went;

-Less megacorporate activity.
-Lots of mafia activity.
-Lots of Voodoo magic.
-Great love of parties.

Not that the above should stop you from using the WW NO or even your own.
