Hoi everyone.

I have the idea for two new physad powers.
Here they are. Gimme plenty of comments, but no email bombs please :)

:)
BulletShower

Absorb Damage
Cost: varies

This power enables the physad to absorb damage done to his mind or
body. This absorbed damage does no harm to the physad's body or mind,
but is "stored" in a metaplane instead. When the adept wishes to
access this damagaging energies, he has to concentrate one combat
round, then he can direct them against every target in his LOS. The
physad can do this a number of times a day equal to his Magic
Attribute divided by two (round down).

Absorbed Damage Cost
L stun 0.5
L lethal 1
M stun 1
M lethal 2
S stun 2
S lethal 4

Absorb Substance [Basic]
Cost: 1

With this power, the physad can absorb loose materials into his body
in order to change the shape or density of of his limbs. It is
possible, for instance, to (partially) absorb a baseball bat, and use
it to hit someone. Another, more intelligent, suggestion is to absorb
armor jackets which don't fit. However, technical devices cease to
function as soon as they are absorbed (sorry, no built-in laser
goggles here). The physad has to overcome the Object Resistance Rating
of the object to be absorbed, using as many dice as his Magic
attribute. It is possible to absorb more than one material: add the
Object Resistance Ratings of the absorbed materials together, and
divide the sum by 6. The result may not be higher than the physad's
Essence. After a number of combat rounds equal to the physad's Magic
attribute, all materials absorbed are repelled by the body. Before
absorbing substance again, the adapt must wait till his body has
calmed down, which takes (12-Magic) combat rounds.

Absorb Substance [Advanced]
Cost: 3

This power can only be accessed by initiates. Basically, it is the
more advanced form of the Absorb Substance power: the physad can
perform all the feats of Basic Absorb Substance, plus he is able to
absorb technical devices (NO CYBERWARE however) which function
normally. Thus, he for instance can absorb night vision goggles. The
physad has to overcome the Object Resistance Rating of the object to
be absorbed, using as many dice as his Magic attribute. It is possible
to absorb more than one material: add the Object Resistance Ratings of
the absorbed materials together, and divide the sum by 6. The result
may not be higher than the physad's Essence. After a number of combat
rounds equal to the physad's Magic attribute, all materials absorbed
are repelled by the body. Before absorbing substance again, the adapt
must wait till his body has calmed down, which takes (12-Magic) combat
rounds.

This is *waaaay* too cheap. Damaging all targets in LOS (with apparently
no attempt for resistance) is incredibly powerful. The price on this should
make Distance Strike look like a bargain. I don't have my sourcebook with
me, but I'd start with 10 magic points for the L stun and bring it up from
there.

Given the time limit, this power isn't so unbalancing. Given that
as PhysAd powers go, it's pretty freaky, I'd suggest 4 magic points.

Let me see if I understand this correctly:
You absorb night vision goggles and get night vision for the duration
(and the goggles don't bulge out of your face)? You absorb a cattle prod
and can zap people with your bare hands? This is an amazing act of
interfacing magic with technology. Twelve magic points, at least.

Hi Max! (<cheshire@*****.COM>)

Thanks for commenting the new powers!
I have expressed myself too vaguely, I see.
Let me correct this:

Right. However, I want to have it this way: choose ONE target out of
them, then use the power.

Agreed. :)

With "absorbing", I mean, you "implant" it into your body. When
"absorbing" a cattle prod, you meld it with your hand - your hand
doesn't get the ability to zap the living hell outa people, your hand
is prolonged by a "magically implanted" prod.
This way, I think, 3 points are okay, ain't they?

:)

In that case, the power should be more expensive than Distance Strike, which
is itself quite expensive and of limited range.

So when you "absorb" night vision goggles, you're just wearing night
vision goggles but they're effectively glued onto your flesh rather than
being strapped on, and when you "absorb" a taser, it's glued onto your
hand? This sounds quite different from the previous Absorb Substance
power, which actually allowed you to incorporate armor into yourself and
be protected by it. If this is just the ability to adhere to items,
you might want to call it "item adhesion". I'd say that at that point,
3 magic points is pretty reasonable.

Hey, I think someone sent out a list of new PhysAd powers in the week I
was away. Could someone post that by private email to me? Thanks heaps...
