If this power is what I think it is, than I've got some reservations....
Basically the take I've got on the thread so far is that the Meditation
power lets an adept choose the abilities that he wants to be able to use
for the next time period (week/day/year, whatever).
If I'm off track here, tell me.... gently, if possible.
I've seen a similar power listed in a couple of the web articles i've read.
The problem I have with this possibility is that it gives the adept
access to every power listed in the books, equivalent to a street smaurai
being able to modularise his cyberware and get it changed overnight
because the needs of the run dictate it. Or even scarier; a mage being
able to pick which spells he can cast, from the entire list in Awakenings.
I know that physical adepts get a raw deal when it comes to the magic cost
of their abilities; I'm currently playing one as a character..... but I'd
rather not be able to change powers on demand..... Half the reasons for
my character's existence would go out of the window.
One of the major benefits of being an adept that I can see is that you're an
incredible damage soak; You've usually got decent (though not brilliant)
physical stats, and any damage you take can be healed by the team's mage
in about zero time flat, thanks to the high essence. Another benefit is
that you are very, very, very quiet......
Here's a suggestion for a new phys-ad power of my own (it may already
have been done; I haven't checked);
Relfex Boost. Works the same way as the Strength/Quickness boost, and
costs a comparitively smaller amount of magic....The magic cost of
reflexes is one of the worst things about phys. ads. The drawback is of
course that you take drain. Perhaps you could combine the regular + Xd6
enhancement power and the boost, so that you go reasonably fast normally,
and in those situations when you really need the speed you can cut in the
extra boost level(s).
I haven't made up any possible costs or rules for this power yet (i'm
writing off the top of my head).... So if someone wants to supply some,
I'd be grateful
Bleach.
