Hoi, chummers, I've got a bit of a question for all of you runners out
in netland. For a change, this one isn't exactly a technical question
concerning rules. Instead, it's a question about just how interested you are
in the non-static nature of the shadowrun universe. Basically, I'm trying to
create a city for shadowrun. Now, this one isn't exactly a NET project, like
certain other city projects in the Net RPG community. Instead, what I'm trying
to do is organize one for use at conventions.
My goal is to get the FASA, the RPGA, and maybe KAGE involved in one
big project to create an as yet undeveloped city in the shadowrun universe that
could work as a sort of Living City. (RPGA members and Con-goers may recognize
that term.) I'd like to see a city where everyone could play their own
characters and allow for these characters to have the opportunity to advance
and grow in that city's Shadow community.
I don't yet know what city I'd be able to use, though Cleveland and
Boston are my first choices. (Cleveland because I live there, Boston for
obvious reasons.) The setting would allow for a constantly growing city
created not just by game designers, but instead by players. Different players
characters could attain roles as powerful fixers, gang members, etc.
The interactive possibilities could easily become mind boggling in such a
situation.
Interested? Then I'd like you to do something to help create this. To
show FASA and the RPGA that there are people out there who're interested in
this, we need to send them letters. Basically a few lines to say that you'd be
willing to support such an endeavor would be wonderful. Also if you'd e-mail me
a short note if you're willing to help in other aspects of the project, I'm
trying to create a list of people interested.
SO, here are the relevant addresses:

RPGA Network HQ
PO Box 515
Lake Geneva, WI 53147

and

Tom Dowd
FASA
P.O. Box 6930
Chicago, IL 60680

Thanks to all those interested. And if you're uninterested, or if you
see a problem with this concept, tell me. I'm very open to constructive
criticism.
