Hi Everyone!

I'm new to Shadow Run (Yes, I'm so new I can't even
spell it correctly! ^_^).

I read the FAQ. Hope the e-mail is set correctly for
the list. (I'm waiting for a computer where you can
just jack-in and think at it and it does what you want
it to do).Actually, if it is wrong, some kind soul
could message me off list, and I will fix it (if only
I knew what to fix!?).

I just started reading SR3 book...So everything is
still very NSD. But So Very Cool!

Cheers

Dale ( I haven't thought up a good street name yet.
Any suggestions? Be Nice!^_^)

Learn. We're all incredibly intolerant over here. If you don't get it
right immediately, you're banned. Say anything we don't like, you're
banned. Post after lurking, or lurk after posting: banned. Wear last
year's fashions? Banned.

Looks all right to me.

Good stuff, that book. Let us know if any of the rules confuse you...
some of the mechanics can be kinda overwhelming (I still don't get rigging,
myself).

No suggestions, sorry. Had a hard enough time figuring out my own. Go
the vision quest route... go without food for a while, walk out into the
wilderness and start hallucinating. Then come back, tell us about it, and
we'll start calling you names. One of them should stick. :)

Boondocker, your forgeting the traditional rite of initiation where he
has to take on a bear in hand to hand combat armed only with a butter
knife. :)

Here's an idea for a street name: Apocalypse Bob

No real reason; I just have always thought that sounded cool.

Did you order it from FASA's depleted warehouse stock? Or from
FanPro/Whatever they're called?

I've been reading all the info I can on Shadowrun since two years ago when I
played the SNES and Genesis versions of it, bought the New Seattle
sourcebook ( hey, that's where EVERYTHING happens ) a year ago, and managed
to buy Third Edition and Man and Machine:Cyberware and Cannon Companion ( a
great buy, I might add ) in August, some of the last FASA stock, woohoo.

Ok, since these guys turned your innocent question into a big yucky pit of
nostalgia, inside jokes, and other crap, I'll help out ( I'm semi-new too,
after all )

Pick a class/archetype first, this should greatly influence your character's
name and habits, after all

I mean, if I had a bonehead player who's name was "Magic Man" or "Data
Hack"
and he was a Mercenary, or a Physical Adept, I'd go out of my way ( it's my
duty as a good GM ) to make sure they were shot......in the head.

But that's for the sake of simplicity, practicality, and since you're new.
Having a name that doesn't correspond to your archetype could be used as a
nice tool to outwit Lone Star, if all they know is your name, and it sounds
like you're a Decker, you think they'll be looking for a mage?

So really? Use your imagination, dont let us try and tell you what your
street name should be.

Speaking of THWAPs, does anyone still have the ASCII "animation" of the
Big Honking Carp(TM) falling from the sky on some poor fellow's head? I remember it was
used on Spike once, and I'd like to "borrow" it for use in another list, where
the topic of hitting people with fish has come about :).

It is a FASA. I got at my local game shop. At 10% off
cover price. It had been sitting on the shelf a long
time.(dusty- ah choo!) Everyone there seems to think

Sure did. ;)

BTW, if you're just looking for a nick to go by onlist, I wouldn't sweat
it. Dale's pretty unique, and you might eventually come across some
neato-cool moniker that you want to try out. Or you might dredge up a real
gong like 'Boondocker' or 'Doc''... you never know. :)

If, on the other hand, you're looking to name a character (like some
folks thought) then I guess we shouldn't have joshed ya. Or at least
joshed you more appropriately... there are plenty of jokes we could have
made about naming characters. But I don't think that's what you were
looking for, is it? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Boondocker:
No correction needed. The reaction from the list just
surprised me. I was looking both for character names
and a "list name".---But...Thwap Bait? Woodchuck
Bot?Guess you have to be a insider...though it does
indicate that this is one of the cooler (crazier?)and
more tolerant lists.

Cheers

BTW it was a satirical misspelling. Like using "Honked
Up" instead of "Honked Off".
EXAMPLE: When the late (and much missed) Parrot said ,
He was Honked Up about something, he was being
satirical. When Nate the Neck said, Honked Up, he got
it wrong(because he did not know what it means) and
was thus an idiot.
I know what Shadowrun means(Presumptuous, aren't I)
and thus can not be banned for using my Constitutional
Right to be satirical. Isn't America wonderful!?<"The

You're forgetting something, Boonie.

He'll have to change his name.

You can't be a musketeer unless your name has 'doc' in
it somewhere. See?

You're just asking for trouble on this list with that ;-).

Welcome aboard, Dale. I see that you've already been exposed to the thwaps,
silly inside jokes, the two musketeers' poor humour, and other nonsense that
contributes to the high noise/data ratio of this list :-).

If you don't mind sifting through the mud to find the nuggets of gold,
though, you're bound to find a wealth of useful information, insights, and
advice on this list. And we hope that you can contribute, too :-).

Hi Everyone
Hi Doc (What's Up?)

First intimidation, now physical threats. You just
don't know when to give up(typical Troll).

I feel right at home and want to play SR more than
ever!

BUT...Our urinating contest_discussion, for those of
you on the list with a vocabulary_has to stop.
So...Here is a peace offering(you can even cook it);
Have a carp...THWAP!

Cheers

Dale ^_^

Hi Everyone
Hi Damion

Thanks for the welcome.

Sometimes, as you can see by my "Doc" posts, I
contribute to "List Noise" myself. Besides, I love a
good "exchange" every once in a while. It helps to get
one fired up(and remind one that it is a game and is
all in fun).

Actually Doc did perform a useful service. I now see
that playing a Troll could be great fun.

Hope I can contribute something(other than noise)to
the list in the future.

Cheers

Dale
