Hi all,

Does someone know where to find a list of nicknames associated to real
names in the books of Shadowrun, like :

The big "D": Dunkelzahn
The Laughing Man: Harlequin

I found those 2 reading Tir Tairngire, and I'd like to know how many I
missed...

Orange Queen is Hestaby

There was a thread about this sometime ago, also one of the sourcebooks
covered it IIRC. Brain too dead in AM for more names, but I expect to hear
from everybody who already ordered their Gurth files.

Hi all,

Does someone know where to find a list of nicknames associated to real
names in the books of Shadowrun, like :

--------------------------
You might want to try out Ancient History's files.

I don't think he has this specifically, but a lot of his files do
compile background and history information including key player's
Shadowland monikers. The link is:

Good luck.

I've started doing a list countless number of times, but I never seem to
finish it...

Lots...

One of my favourite are Twist: Sam Verner

And even better, the nicknames that refer to real-life people:

Bull "The best ork decker you never met": Steven Michael Ratkovich
gurth@***********.nl: Gurth, even though it's not his real name.
Fro: Adam Jury

You can see more of those on

It's mostly common knowledge that "Wordsmyth" is Erhan the Scribe.

Lady of the Court, Orange Queen.... Don't know. Check the DS forums
WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY in the back (about the time they went from Deep
Resonance to Dump Shock).

Er, sorry for that 'me too'. I saw later the call had ended for them.

But more importantly, I also believe 'Loremaster' is Sirrurg the Destroyer.
Sirrurg seems to have the same personality as the 'Loremaster' Vasdenjas from
the Fourth Age, as well as a similar title (Eater of Cities, and the
Terrible). He was also obsessed with knowledge, and only Dunkelzahn had more
than he. It would explain his reaction to the will, and his threatening of
Hestaby, who got a private databank from the will.

Shucks, I finally made it in Shadows of North America (pp63-64) and I
don't get a mention on that page.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal names
more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves, they
answered to another name, because if another discovered their real name,
it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.
Welcome to the Digital Age.

IIIRC, all of these existed in published products previous to anyone taking
them on as handles online.*

[* Obviously, I don't mean /nobody/ had these handles, but I don't think
writers use of them was based on anyone online, unlike many of the others
you listed.]

Best,
Adam
