Well, I did GM a run once that involved a nuclear weapon (tactical
warhead (nominal yeild around 50kT), self-guided missle, near-AI guidance
routines, etc.). <g> I can hear the horrified gasps already out on listland.
The players & characters involved were all VERY experienced, though.
The run itself was VERY complicated and VERY dangerous. It was intended
to be an exceptional experience, and it worked rather well (the
expressions of the PCs as they realized what they had on their hands,
well, I just wish I had a camera <g>). It was one of those rare times in
my games that the actions of the runners had a very real and very large
(if subtle, nothing made the screamsheets) effect on entire nations and
megacorps. All the characters that survived got a shit load of karma,
and they deserved every bit of it. The adventure was around ninety
hand-written pages (one page of my hand writing corresponds to about two
to three pages of double-spaced Times New Roman 12 pnt., so that shoulkd
give you an indication of how much material was in the thing) and took me
two months to run to completion with a six hour game session every Saturday.
God, it was fun to run...

That sounds like one *good* adventure....

Why not type it up in your free time and put it in a web page for everyone?
I for one would like to see it.... :)
(I'm sure someone on the list could spare a few K of space on thier WWW
pages?????)

First off, I hope I didn't restart an old argument (cum flamewar).

Second, nonono! Never in the hands of a player! Probably never in a game,
just a question I had in my head, and with a GRIN attached to the end too!

Well, there are a few things preventing that, although I'd do it if I could:
1)I'm taking 17 hours (with things like Electromagnetics, Cal II, etc.)
this semester, leaving me very little free time.
2)I'm not a terribly fast or terribly good typist.
3)*All* of my Shadowrun stuff (books, notes, adventures, everything) is
300 miles away at home, preventing me from doing a very accurate
recreation, neccessary because of #4
4)I can't remeber where I put the stack of paper once I got through
running the adventure. (Disorganization is a symptom of genius. :) )

If I get the time and enough people express interest I'll try to type up
a summary/seed idea and mail it to the list. Not very detailed, but
enough to give other GMs an idea how to construct the adventure/tailor it
to their campaign.

And, no, the characters DIDN'T get to keep the nuke. :)

Actually, for two years Lynch had a white cylinder in his armoury,
with a "RADIATION" sticker on it, hand-painted with the words "Nuclear
Warhead, 250 Kilotons, Handle With Care. This Way Up. Do Not Drop."

It was indeed a real nuke. It got stolen because, like Everest, it was there:
the plot intention was to merely disarm it, but Lynch had the means to
steal the damn thing. So he did. After the GM stopped laughing, we discussed
it and decided to let it stand. (What do you *do* with a nuke of your
own, assuming vapourising a city centre doesn't appeal? One nuclear weapon
won't significantly hurt a nation or corporation, just get you hunted down
and killed).

He never had the release codes, though. In the end, he traded it to the
UCAS government (for rather less than some others wanted for it, but that's
the price of principles). It only affected the game in that it made a good
bargaining counter.
