Subject: North American Metatypes - Part One - May-May-Gwya-Shi
Date: Tue, 7 Apr 1998 13:31:50 -0400
After the thread asking for genuine North American metahumans variants, I
sat down and wrote these up.
Each of these appears through Native American legends, most noticeably the
Green Dwarves, who were the guardians of animal spirits.

I based the stats off a little library research, as well as the statistics
given each race in White Wolf's Changeling game.

Enjoy!

MAY-MAY-GWYA-SHI - aka Rock Fishers (Elf variant)

An Algonquin legend of little people that dwell inside rocks and have a
weakness for fish and tobacco. Native to the NE Coastal United States. Known
for their powerful magic and ability to merge with stone. Often painted
their hands red and marked the stones near their home to warn away humans.

APPEARANCE

The average Rock Fisher stands approx. 1.5 meters tall, and weighs in at a
slender 65 kilos. Head hair is fine and abundant, and all have a fine layer
of otter-like fur covering their bodies, giving them the historical epithet
"hairy-faced". Ears show elven like points.

STATS

+1 Quickness, May take Magic as Priority D and still become an Earth
Elemental Adept, or Water Elemental Adept.

One thing I realized when I looked at this is that in... the Changeling:
The Dreaming players guide, they put up rules for Native American
"changelings", called Nunnehi. One of which is the may-may-gwya-shi that
you listed, and the green dwarf sounds familiar, though it had a different
name... It may be a good resource if for nothing else than to see how
another game adapted them to their system... *shrug*

Huh? What are you saying here? That he should compare the C:tD
stats to the SRII stats that Tinner converted from C:tD?

You know, until you said something, I'd missed the fact that he said he got
some statistics from C:tD... Oops! I think I'll just go hide now. =)
