Howdy.

I asked a short thyme back about posting supplements for publishing
considration to FASA.

Now, I'd like to know about how the realm of the Shadowrun novels works.
Same general guidelines as for submitting direct game supplements, or is
this horse coloured differently?

And, out of curiosity, those of you with access to the Super Nintendo
Entertainment System: have you tried/rented/bought the "Shadowrun" game?
What did you think? I rented it originally and ended up buying a copy
three days later. Took two weeks of on/off play to win. It's definitely
revolutionary for video-based RPGs...

I haven't played/seen it, but the impression I got from all the posts I
saw in various places was that it was "Shadowrun" in name only. Rumor
control also has it that a Sega version is in the works that will be much
closer in spirit to the RPG.

I also rented it...

Basically I think its garbage and everyone should stay away from it. The
game rules were a rediculous bastardization of SR. For example, your
strength stat (which starts at one always) determines what guns you can
use. I was also frustrated in my attempts to find a gun and a credstick.
I gave up after my three days rent was up.

Obviously a SNES rookie. I rented it and thought it was very well done.

Okay, yeah, I have to agree with that...

However, he's right about the game being a "bastardization"; but you have
to be willing to open your mind. After all, FASA had final say on
release.

The strength and weapon use controls are just that: controls. The game
designers had to find a way to keep new guys from getting that Defiance
shotgun. There are likely better ways, but a #2 ranking nationwide for
sales (behind Mortal Kombat, of course...) shows that many really don't
mind the method used...

The overall play design is a breath of fresh air over the standard "pick
an option and see what happens--no action involved" formats.

Getting the gun was as simple as following the first guy you talk to! He
gets shot right before your eyes by a hostile troll. Pick up your bud's
weapon and plug the troll; grab his SecureTech jacket afterwards.

The credstick's a touch more complicated, but you need to go back to the
morgue w/ your sunglasses and the Lone Star badge... =^)

Actually, the Super NES Shadowrun isn't TOO bad. It's pretty well im-
possible without some hints to start you out, though (I had a few, like how to
get the stupid KEY TO YOUR APARTMENT).

The graphics are sad, but it seems to have a good plot and stuff anyways.
