that he was a bit of a gun collector/expert. He uses an antique .45 as
his sidearm, collects all sorts of guns (which hang on his wall, but are
all in working condition), hand-loads most of his own ammo, does
tune-ups and modifications, shoots in competitions (which he rarely
loses - Specialisation of 8 in his chosen pistol, plus match-grade
ammo!) and all the usual gun-nut stuff. That got me to thinking: does
the National Rifle Association exist in 205X? Is it even relevant to a
world where it seems that every man and his dog has or can get an
'assault weapon'? How wide-spread would their membership be, and would
they have much political clout? Would the NRA be as Balkanised as the
America it sprang from, or would love of firearms-rights transcend
national borders?
