I'm sure this has probably come up before, but, can anyone tell me the
name of the font used for the text of the Shadowrun rulebooks? Not only do
I want to know as a Shadowrun junkie, but also it's about the only
easily-readable, proportional, serifed typeface out there that isn't Times
New Roman. An URL to someplace I can download it from would laso be
helpful. Thanks in advance.

Also, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, or whatever holiday you did,
and has a Happy New Year.

It exists under a couple of different names, but the most common are Francis
(or France) and FrizQuadrata. If you have Corel DRAW, the latter is in the
fonts directory on the installation CDs.

How about Garamond?

Dammit, I thought I everything was there. It's been fixed now...

I guess it does show that the site isn't exactly popular, though -- hardly
anybody has ever complained about bad links, except Lars. (Not sure what smiley
to put here, though...)

Well, I've tried, but I just normally shrug off broken links and go on.

BTW, How do you integrate the font pack into MS Office?

With traffic this low, 'on topic' takes on a new dimension...

Copy the fonts into your windows/fonts folder. At least that's how I do
it.

Hopefully, that's what most people do :)

> BTW, How do you integrate the font pack into MS Office?

Unzip the font pack first. On a Windows machine, you can either copy the
fonts into the c:\windows\fonts directory, or open the Control Panel,
double-click on the Fonts thingie there, and drag-and-drop the font files
into the window that opens. From now on, you have access to them in any
Windows program.

On a Linux box running XFree86 version 3.x, you'll need to have a TrueType
font driver installed (I use xfstt) and copy the fonts into whatever dir
you've set it up for (xfstt's default is /usr/share/fonts/truetype/).
XFree86 v4 has TrueType support built in, but I've not tried that version
so I can't say for sure how it works; my guess it you have to copy the
fonts into the appropriate subdirectory of /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ and
rebuild the fonts.dir file in that subdir.

Finally, I don't know if you can use the fonts on a Mac. However, someone
did send me Mac versions of the fonts, packed with StuffIt, that are
available from the individual fonts' pages at
http://plastic.dumpshock.com/software/fonts.html

How nice :) I've never bothered with versions of fonts, and since the docs were
all made with the fonts that are up on the site, there is probably not much to
gain by using a later version anyway.

Yeah, but if we don't keep this thread going there'll be no traffic at all :)

One of the fonts, by Microsoft IIRC.

I tried to download it about 3 months ago. But I found that the link was
dead. Fortunately, the old shadowrun.html.com (or whatever it was) site is
still up, so I could get it from there.
