And I'll try to drag the thread back on topic. What are some pets your
runners have had?
When I ran my group through Universal Brotherhood, and they visited
The Cat Lady (there's a NPC in UB who has upwards of around 20 cats or
so. Since the fact that she has cats has no bearing on the outcome of
the adventure, I didn't flag this as a spoiler) the team's troll took
instantly to one of the cats.

The cat itself may have had mixed feelings about it, but when a troll
picks you up, and puts you in his lap to hold and pet you, there's not
much that you can do. Anyway, when it came time for the runners to
move on, the troll decided to ask the Cat Lady point blank if he could
have the cat. She was rather startled and just a bit intimidated, and
so before she could think about it, she agreed.

For the rest of the run, the cat ended up being brought along with the
runners. In fact, when the team's weasely, rather meek street sam
would take the cat with him for company whenever he would hide under
the bed, which because this was UB, was quite often.

Alarmingly (or not, depending on your perspective), none of my runners have
pets. I'm going to try to rectify that as soon as I come up with a good
idea.

Wasn't the character in UB referred to as the Cat Troll? I don't think we
need to spoilerize it either, considering that the fact that the Cat Lady is
a troll also has no bearing on the outcome of the adventure.

Hmm. Now that you mention it, I think she was. It's been 5-6 years
since I've run that adventure, so for some reason, I remembered her as
an ork. Must have been one of the little details I had changed.

Just for S&G value, I'm gonna spoilerize this (better late than never). I
think this might be going into more detail than some would prefer.

Spoilers have always been here.

Spoiling, spoiling, over the bounding main.

That ought to be enough.

Ah, here we are: The Cat Troll has a whole section of the adventure named
after him. He's Mr. Dent, an old troll. The reason you pegged him as an
ork was probably because the text told you to use the Ork Shaman archetype
from Sprawl Sites and pretend he was a troll.

Mr. Dent? How odd. The way I had remembered it, the Cat Troll was a
woman. _That_ must have been the detail I'd changed.

My Ork Rigger Jane considers her walker drone (... unamed as of yet ...
perhaps Cog?) a pet and treats it as such. The drone is, IIRC, a Body 1
drone with a bite attack and some sensor options. She controls it via a
cranial RCD and it has the highest non-security/military Pilot rating (I
think that's 3.). It's mostly there for fun/companionship. All her
other drones are named after animals but the dog drone is the only one
she actively treats as one. :)
