Hi guyz...

What do you think of the idea of setting up the
song "5/4" by "Gorillaz" as the official hymn of
the Awakened Shadowrun world? I like it... ;=}

I doubt that all of you know that song, but you
can get it f.e. with Morpheus (similar to Napster).

There also is www.gorillaz.com

================= Gorillaz - 5/4 =================
Magic for me
Magic make no sound
It good for me
It good for me underground

Magic on me
Really got me down
Invade the city
It make my heart beat no sound

Beat no sound
Beat no sound (ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Beat no sound
Beat no sound
Beat no sound (ooh ooh ooh ooh)

And let me tell myself
Tell on
She turned my dad on
She turned my dad on
Dad on
Dad on!!!

Magic for me
Magic get me through
We pledge it money
People seem to walk through you

Magic's funny
Magic get me through
All good for me
When people seem to always walk through you
Walk through you
Walk through you (ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Walk through you
Walk through you
Walk through you (ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Walk through you
Walk through you

And let me tell myself
Tell on
She turned my dad on
She turned my dad on
Dad on
Dad on

She made me kill myself
Come on
Come on

She turned my dad on
Come on
She turned my dad on
Come on
She turned my dad on
She turned my dad on
Dad on
Dad on

Not having heard the song I cannot really comment, but the distinct lack of
intelligent lyrics makes me wary that the song would sound like a rap sung
by a 3 year old. I can see why they got the name "gorillaz"...

Funny, that's sorta what they sound like...
Deadpan lead singer, and (on their one single anyway) a slow rythmic beat.
Hmmm... give it a chance. Could work.
I still think Rush's Test for Echo is the Shadowrun album (Got a song for
every Archtype).

Well... It's not rap at all, and it doesn't have to be sophisticated... You should listen
to it. It's not intelligent, it's just COOL. And it would suit as an official hymn.
Go hear it!

John was speaking metaphorically, I believe - he thinks the album Test for
Echo is the best album for Shadowrun.

However, there /is/ a licensed Shadowrun 'soundtrack', which was released
in 1999. I don't think that FASA had any stock left when they closed, so
it's pretty much unavailable now, AFAIK...

hmmmm on a hunch a month or so back I looked up shadowrun on audiogalaxies
mp3 search engine. Amazingly there are shadowrun themed songs out there (ie:
The run)

Not much in the way of lyrics just music...

someone mentioned (lady jestyr?) on the list a friend of thiers who had
put some shadowrun music on mp3.com. the artist is Alarin,
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/206/alarin.html
which I quite like.. and its free to download, although I'm sure they'd
appreciate any contributions...

I think John meant that he feels "Test for Echo" by Rush is the album that best
gives him that "Shadowrun feeling." However, there is an officially-licensed
album
with Shadowrun tunes, produced by people associated with the Lonely Mountain
game stores in Belgium. It was released in 1999, but I don't know where to get it
apart from (I assume) at one of their stores; I bought my copy off the LM folks
at GenCon '99.
