so you roleplayed a Boardgame. I have done that and modified the rules on so
many games in order to have some more fun. This I think, IMHO, is excellent
and can still be used in conjunction with the game. But enough of this.
What games are popular in the year 205x??? We have Magic: Whatever you want
to call it. MK3(Personally I think it is awful the way they have just kept
this one going and going and going...)(In fact what is next? MK4 The Family
;) ) Sorry bad pun.. But really what are the popular games of the time
period. Probably, IMHO something along the lines of VR-doom or something but
has anyone done anything like this or found anything on it?

Most of the members of our group do war-gamming as well, when it
comes to complex and big battles there is nothing like moving you
little lead figures around, IMHO it adds a great dimension to the
game.

But enough of this.

I would hazard a guess that some of the simple games exist, as
well as the stratergy games such as chess. There seems to be a trend
(here at least) that games are starting to go 3D, word puzzles etc. I
agree that games such as VR-Doom (XXV) would be popular, if I
remember correctly in Buring Bright, it is mentioned that the
daughter of whats-his-name was busy playing something similar to
modern Arcade games...

Well, in a typical 2050 Stuffer Shack, you can find games like Little Mutant
Ninja Vik Cyberboy!, Orbital Ninja Death Commando, Ultimate Bike Race Ninja
Street Duel, and Super Mareno Brothers LXXVIII :)

At least, according to the First Run chapter in SRI :) Mind you those names
were written back in '89, when ninja movies and tv shows were quite popular :)

i cannot help you directly but at one time we had 'Star Trek "Captain
Crushers Logs" ', following on present TV series.

And before the fires start this was chosen as the fastest way to stop
Star Trek discussions during Shadowrun games!! Very effective it was
too.

How about "The Butt-Kicking Banzai Raiders vs El Butcher" (Divided Assets) :)

What do you mean by that Gurth? Are shows like "The Mighty Morfin Power
Rangers" or the "Biker Mice from Mars" or the "Super Something Syber
Samurai"
or the "Virtual Soldier Wahtever" not popular with todays kids ? :)

PS: I'm kinda partial to the Biker Mice from Mars, I like the one with the
Cyberarms :)

Just gotta toot my own horn here and brag to what appears to be the one
person in the universe who actually watches this show, that I was a writer
for BMFM, and I think I'm even down as Assisstant Script Editor in some
of the later ones. :)

Actually, I notice that the most popular video games tend to be based
in fantasy. But in Shadowrun, a lot of what used to be fantasy is now
reality; Mortal Kombat for example; is just a bunch of phys-ads with some
additional magic kicking the snot out of each other, and you can read
about that in a 2054 newpaper. I forsee video games in the future to have
a lot of advanced spaceflight simulators, since that's something SR hasn't
caught up and made real, and probably a resurgence of medieval fantasy
games, and a few DOOM-like games for the ultra-violent. And, of course,
a "Shadowrunners" game, but it would be about as popular as those "Real
Cop" shooting gallery-type games are today...

just my thoughts.

I meant ninja movies and ninja tv shows. Anybody remember that series with
Lee Van Cleef as the ninja hero with newly-recruited assistant?

And please don't tell me you like MMPR :)

Don't forget (heavily romanticized) wild west stuff -- that will be pretty
popular among those Americans who regret that the NAN was formed.

Mad Dog McCree and clones :) I bet in corp-run places you'd find games where
you get to shoot the evil shadowrunners trying to break into the good corp's
building :)

Yeah, that was "Master Ninja." They eventually rolled up a couple episodes
into TV-movie type things. I saw them on Mystery Science Theater 3000. >8->
The show belongs there -- it was total cheese.

Actually, it was simply called "the Master." As a student of
Ninpo, that show sends shivers up my spine. Bad shivers. It is
unfortunate that that cheesy, "Hollywood-ized" image is what everyone
thinks of when you mention the art.

I was just wondering if we should be labeling On Topic [OnT] until
the test period is over with. We already know everything will be Off
Topic.
