It couldn't be a hearth spirit. A hearth spirit needs living people.
You haven't got much of them in an abandoned church. He would have died,
because of no gotten attention.

Not necessarilly. I tend to think that as long as the structure survives,
spirits reside there. It's the whole sympathy thing.

Isn't a hearth spirit come from any buildings, things made for living?
Otherwise all the abandon homes and buildings would be, city spirits?
Magic deals a lot with echos of what was. I would think the echos of the
hearth would still be there. I would say the power would be lower perhaps.
