Does anybody else have any short adventure/campaign ideas that are just for
fun? I'm going to run a game at a local con coming up called "Dragon
Hunting." The idea is, if you haven't pimped the rules as hard as I think
you should, then you can't play your character. No background, no story
hooks. Just plain old power gamed characters who shoot and kill and main
and sink continents. Good for a one shot, but no way could it stand the
test of times.

Anyone else have some similiar type ideas? I heard one on here several
months ago about doing a run into Bug City for a one shot.

Positive feedback appreciated (Happy, MC23? <g>)

Going for the old PC trick, eh? <sly grin>

Well, if you've got the powergamed, chromed/magicked to the max
character, the obvious idea would be a bug hunt ala Aliens, with one
mother-fraggin' large Queen Spirit at the centre of the hive. IIRC Beetle
or Ant would be good for that sort of thing.
Another one-shot is having the characters as above-average gang
members in a free-for-all gang war, or on the run ala
really-bad-movie-called-The-Warriors. (one gang is framed for the murder
of someone trying to unite the gangs, and they have to find their way
across NYC to safe ground).

Ahhhh, yes... My early days....

I seem to remember spending hours drawing map after map of castles and
dungeons for D&D, building these massively huge castles with hundreds of
rooms that served no purpose, putting in dozens of traps (my brother was
always worried when he DIDN'T find a trap), and putting in dozens of
different monsters that had no business living there together.

Ahhh, those were the days... Maybe it's time to throw together a cheesy
dungeon crawl...:)

Yeah, those first days were really bad role-playing wise, but the
memories are so rich and blissful. Ah...

I remember my first run - a halfling thief who walked randomly through a
dungeon and killed a multitude of beasts including several gold dragons
and I was only a 1st level thief!

But Bull, we already did that remember?
Basement of the Renraku Arcology?
We killed all the munchkins and possessed the rest of them with Nomads?
And we had such fun . . . I'm surprised you forgot it.

BTW - anyone else out there use Nomads from PANA?
I have one show up once in a while when the run's going slowly, and the
pc's need and excuse to shoot something.
I have the toughest member of the team get possessed, and slip him a note
telling him to pick a target and gank it. :-)

The boys are getting used to this ploy though . . .

That is one of the kewl things about Earthdawn, an excuse for those
dungeoncrawls! You've got to love the background just for that.

Yeah, but I have always found that the most dangerous thing a PC can
fight is another PC. I seem to recall a Sam in my game with a Panther
Assault Cannon get hit with a termite queen's compulsion power and shoot
the cat shamen. Messy. <grin>

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal
names more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves,
they answered to another name, because if another discovered their real
name, it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.

Interesting, and almost accurate term for it. Munchkin's, however, change
the rules to fit they're reality. My players just have to pimp shadowrun's
easily breakable rules.

I try not to. :)
