:Oh! Oh! Evil Idea! In RA:S, Deus uses Invoked Memory Stimulators which
:means that Renraku /might/ have a cybermancy clinic (or possibly
:manufactures the cyber end for someone else).

Not to discredit a nice Evil Idea, but I think IMS systems would have
medical / therapeutic uses (say, for autistic people or those with brain
damage / senility). I don't think they were developed JUST for Cybermancy
(and brainwashing). Hell, Deus had a LOT of those buggers- SOMEBODY would
have noticed the increase in demand, if they were just for Cybermancy!

I know ... I was just saying that provided an opening for that
interpretation ... It could also be that Renraku didn't have anything to
do with IMSs and Deus or Deus' Otaku hacked the specs from someone who
did ... Or maybe they mailordered a couple hundred and charged them to
Aneki's credit card? :)

Hmmm ... but that does give me an idea ... do you think the IMS could be
modified to improved someone's memory similar to Mnemonic Enhancers?
From the description of how it works it seems that it already seeks out
an "appropriate" memory and brings it to the fore-front... so, you just
need to redefine "appropriate", right?

Hey, how about another possibility. For starters, a IMS (Invoked Memory
Stimulator) works whenever the brainwaves of the person begin to stray into
what the IMS determines as not normal (or beyond allowed limits of deviation),
and when it detects something like that, it kicks in a begins stimulating the
parts of the brain that are responsible for memory and the other senses
(IIRC).

So, could a IMS help a person resist some sort of Mental Manipulation (and I
am talking about that sub-category of spells too)? I would see the
possibility of the IMS adding perhaps a couple of extra dice (perhaps +2 dice)
to resisting mental manipulations of any sort). I might also see the IMS as
perhaps even assisting against certain Illusion spells (like Dream, which
might be the only one in question) in the same way too.

What do you guys think?
