Is that an excuse? :)

While I do not think Bull, per say, is a munchkin (although I never saw the
stats), I think too many people get away with gross munchkins on the basis
that "He/She is X years old". Munchkinism (?) is only partly stats, it's
got a lot more to do with how you play the character.

Of course, if after 6-8 years, the only thing you can think of is "Hmm...I'm
already a Shaman/Decker/Sam... I'm'a get me some Vihicule rigs thingies",
then you're already way beyond help (A friendly reminder to all those
Multi-multi-classed 1st ed. PCs out there, I know you exist).

I'm not talking about those. Frankly, riggers/deckers are far closer to
sams than any other class, and so rigger and deckers who can fight are much
more acceptable (Hell, my character Haze was a decker/sam for 4 years...
note the use of the past tense *sniff sniff* :) ).

I'm not saying that a character can't branch out into other areas. To take
Haze's example again, he was a decker first, then branched out into wetwork
and infiltration/B&E, which aided him in his decking job (getting into
secured computer hosts from inside, etc.). But you need to have a reason
behind it, not just "Hell, it's been 6 years, I got everything I need...
lemme buy a deck and a 'jack. Here's some karma, I got Computer 6 now".
And unfortunatly, that's what most old characters went through.

Decker/Sam... sure.. Rigger/Sam, sure... Hell, a sam is nothing but a
guy with decent combat skills, and anyone can get those. But a
decker/mage/rigger/adept? How can you get there?

Actually, from what I've heard and read (on the web), Bull (the character)
is really fleshed out. With family, friends, enemies, casual acquaintances,
the whole lot. I'd say that those years also gave the character depth as
well as karma.

Lynch came at it from the other direction - mercenary who learned
vehicles and ended up rigging as well. (Doesn't deck well, though - First
Ed. program carriers is all)

Be called either Jenna or Gabriel ;) <makes sign of inverted cross, spits
