I wrote this about a year ago, back when I was working on a manga adaptation
for the Quest for Glory computer game series by Serria.
I wanted the spells to be done in a style similar to Slayers, and had to
come up with something for this spell.

"Dark god of misery and torment,
I ask for your powers to be lent.
In our darkest hour, you are the one,
against everything, which is now gone.
Let the world around me turn the glass,
Thermo-Nuclear-Blast."

I guess now it has some relevence.

This also brings to mind something else...
One of my coworkers said "Watch, give it 40 years and they'll probably make
a movie out of this too."
We both aggreed that we wouldn't see it.

Especially since it'll turn out to be a bad love story where the
terrible events take a back seat or are ignored in favor of "drama".
It'll make me sick.

I dont think it will even take that long to make a movie.

The networks will rush to get it out. I'd look for a made for TV miniseries
within a month after the whole damn deal is wrapped up. Bet me on it, but you
know that isn't as bad a thing as what you're thinking. Yes, they'll be doing
it partially if not totally for profit and ratings...BUT, it will be a
documentation of a very important moment in history, and this movie will help
to ensure that we never forget the events of these past few days and what is
to come. We mustn't ever lose our memories of this moment lest it happen
again. So I say, let them make their movies, and their books, because by the
gods, history needs these documents for future generations who were not here
that they may hopefully avoid similar catastrophes. I intend to watch it when
it comes out, because we can't "make it not so"...we can't just make it
disappear by turning a blind eye...the damage is done, and more will be I'd
be willing to bet. The best and only thing we can do about it now is to pay
attention, and watch, and learn from what has happened.

I certainly won't need a movie to achieve that.

As if "Pearl Harbor" (the movie) is any good for learning about what
happend back then.

But, and here's the key, they have to do it respectfully. The TV
miniseries will, IMHO, be good. I think the movie talked about earlier
was a la "Pearl Harbor" which took a tragic event and made it the scene
for a love story. If the movie detailed, for example, the Japanese
planning sessions, and was more a "this is why it happened and what it
looked like" then it would have been a much better movie. Probably why
it wasn't a summer blockbuster after all...
