The 18,000lbs bomb isn't a Daisy Cutter, that's a
different type of weapon. A Daisy Cutter was used in
Vietnam to clear areas of forest, and IIRC they weighed
in at around 30k lbs, but since they were a specialized
type of weapon, the explosive force wasn't as great.
I'm still pretty certain that the 18k bomb is the
largest in explosive power in our arsenal, and I will
try to find the article that I read that in.
I do know, and you can look this up, that the troops in
the gulf thought we'd used a nuclear weapon when we
dropped an 18k on Iraq. The mushroom cloud was visible
for quite a long distance. Offhand I don't recall the
target it was dropped on, but for a short time
everyone thought we had nuked Iraq because the blast
was so huge.
Anyway, I will try to find some documentation.
