Could someone tell me what Canadians call their snow skis please? I mean
those mechanical motorbike things, I'm sure they have a special name but I
can't remember it. Thanks. (Off list is a good idea)

snowmobiles.

I don't get it. There's not a single reference to sex,
or cyber sex toys, or cybered prostitutes, or even
adept prostitutes.

Not like one of my questions at all.

Btw, you're not thinking of "skidoo", are you, Simon
(which happens to be an actual brand name, if my
information is correct)?

If it makes you feel better, imagine a prostitute riding one :?)

That's the one I was trying to think of. Of course, the actual Canadian who
answered me said they just call them snowmobiles, which sounds better
anyway. It seems only Australians think Canadians call them skidoos.

Skidoo is the brand name for the original motorized snow vehicle, as
created by Bombardier and sold by that company to this day. Snowmobile is
the more generic term. (Which I suppose is like the difference between
"Tylenol" and "Acetominophen" or "A rose" and "Any
other name".)

It does...as I said, Simon, "Skidoo" is a brand name
(apparently a popular brand to get the
snowmobile/Skidoo association going, but still just a
brand).

*Doc' imagines that nekkid, Skidooing prostitute
again..."Mmmm...blue..."

I don't know if this is what Canadians call them, but I've always heard them
referred to as snowmobiles...

I could swear I heard some Canadians somewhere talking about how they all
call them Skidoos, kind of like in the UK how they all call vacuum cleaners
Hoovers. Never mind.

Well, they probably all do - those particular
Canadians, anyway. :) It's probably a locale thing -
some Canadians (mostly likely clumped together in
certain areas) have always called them all Skidoos.
Their kids grow up with that, so THEY call them
Skidoos, etc. Others in other areas call them
snowmobiles, etc.
